WAD or Bug? Infiltrators ...

Post by KNomad »

I purchased a company of Rangers for playing the Enhanced LLRV campaign. The problem I'm encountering is that the Bazooka teams & the Mortar squad can't be assigned to infiltrate along with the rest of the company.

Does this Work As Designed, a limitation of the code, or a bug? I find it pretty strange that 10 guys can't keep up with the rest of the company. Does this happen with the Special Forces companies of other nations?

Also, what determines how long it takes to reach the infiltration hexes? Distance from the start line, or edge of map? Does terrain or experience alter this?

Thanks in advance.

Its a class issue, I think. The game has no class for Special Forces AT team, Special Forces MG, etc. They are the standard versions, so cannot infiltrate. I thought a work around would be to make an Ranger squad as any other, but equip it with just a zook, or just a MG, and make its size 2 or 4 respectively, but there are only so many slots for units. It happens with any nation.

Distance from the objective and experience are primary in how long it takes for them to arrive (or if they arrive at all).

actually Enhanced does have 'Ranger MG unit' that will infiltrate.
but it is a unit class thing.
not enough unit classes for zooks and the like to infiltrate.

With only 2 "infiltration" Classes, it's hard to do a good job representing an entire Ranger group infiltrating. And with only 4 weapon slots, more "copies" of the squads would be required to get all the possible weapon mixes. There just aren't any more free slots to work with....
