Two questions before taking the plunge

Post by elmerlee »

Does the game keep a play log in a text file? One that will show things like who carried, how many yards, who tackled, etc.

And by any chance is there a way to replay or manually fix the outcome of a play? I'm thinking of errors that occur such as wrong team trying EP, incorrect first downs, whatever?

I can live with the problems I'm reading about if all or some of these things are available.

Thanks for the reply DONMVP.

The log looks good. Hope it is accurate.

As to the other question I asked - I really didn't expect a "yes" as I'm not sure I've seen a football game that has that feature.

The game has made some nice progress. Just hate to see the updates bogged down because of Vista. But I guess others are having the same delays also.

I dont think the game will be bogged down because of Vista.  David is still fixing bugs and adding new features and they should be available soon.  That said, at the same time David is trying to get the game to also work with Vista, but not at the expense of XP or 98.  MF1 should soon be bug free and complete, MF2 will probably turn more towards Vista and with additional changes and enhancements.  That is just my take from posts I have seen, to take it as positive.

There are some errors in the gamelog. But, myself and a few others brought it to Davids attention and he said its taken care of.

I think that's an accurate assesment. Although, for the next patch, no new features are added. It's just some bug fixes. The next set of new features is going to take some time to complete so it was thought best to set those aside for a little while and just get a bug fix only patch out to users.

I am ready to pull the trigger on this game this weekend. I love the customization and the total flexibility but the deciding factor is the support you give for this game Dave. Man, that is impressive and it is something you don't see from the software "giants". Plus the forum here has a lot of people who are very friendly and helpful to others. You guys are great and thanks for the great support Dave.

I see the post started by "LUCAS" some six weeks ago showing detailed stats. They look vary good for an older build and I'm wondering if anyone has something like that available for this new build (or at least a late one)? I realize that tinkering with the settings will get things to a certain point nut ,like Madden, that only goes so far.

And I promise my last question. How do the in game graphics compare to FBPro and Madden? Maybe somewhere in between? I'm far from a graphics nut but I don't want to deal with something like FBPro that had only 8 variable direction movement. That really impacts the gameplay also. That may have been raised to 16 near the end (not sure) but without unristricted angles something is really lacking.

Well, in my opinion, the graphics may lie somewhere around Madden 2001. Maybe even 2002.
Which is great for me.

Way better than FBPro, nowhere near the more recent maddens.

I play MaxFB and Madden2002 quite a bit, more Max these days. I would say Madden 02 is the better looking game, but Max isnt too far off.

Well this might help. This from a test league I have been messing around with and this is after the first two games of the season using V1.3.139. Pardon the format as I had to transfer it from html.

Thanks for the new info guys.

Found an old Madden 2002 and took a look at the graphics. Just another example of EA Sports getting lots of bucks for doing very little. Those graphics are not that far from 2007 they are using. Five years old and very little improvement. Don't see Madden gameplay as that much better either. If MF is at or near the 2002 graphics that is much better than I expected and a very good effort.

As to the stats Deft posted. Still looks like a lot of room for improvement. The "madden-like" number of long pass gains is a bother. Same with the "fewer than needed
interseptions-fumbles-penalties". Probably fixable with the plays and text editing but I'm surprised this hasn't been done by some players working with the files?

Anyway doesn't look like a game killer.

At the moment it is all a little bit like a work-in-progress. When the last upgrade is released then you could really work with *.dat and files. Now you have to live with the constant "thread" that the next build will change some parts and you have to revise your work.

Although I haven't been keeping track of the stats lately, my gut feeling is that the running game is better now... maybe too good. I see a lot of 15-20 yd runs. I could probably put something together after I run a couple weeks worth of games with the latest build. Remember, these are played out CPU-CPU, and is fairly time consuming so don't expect anything for a while.

Deft, what version are those stats from?  Some of them look to have the number bug that from a few builds ago.

I have been waiting to put some stats together until the new playbooks are in place.  The defenses in the old default playbooks are not tweaked to the new zones and M2M coverage capabilities of the game.

Lucas, thanks for offering to update your numbers.  Did you make any gameplan changes for the CPU-CPU games?

I guess I'm still seeing WAY too many problems to expect to be able to have any usefull kind of league play.
