Puzzled

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

I played a game...years and years ago...and I'm not sure what it was called. But it had to do with bombing Germany, mostly from England (but from Italy too).

I think the game was Bombing the Reich...but I honestly don't remember for sure.

That was one of the funnest games I ever played. I think I had to stop because it wouldn't run on a recent version of Windows...whatever that was at the time...and I eventually had to retire the old computer.

I played that game for hours and hours and wish I knew what it was. I remember that when I had a lot of bombers flying to their targets, that my computer lagged pretty badly.

Note: I never played that game "Battle of Britain" although I remember seeing it around many years ago.

Anyone have any idea what that game might have been??? Was "Bombing the Reich" the only computer game that fit the description???

I played that game for hours. (I'm an old Grognard from before the days of the computer...back to the Avalon Hill days...anyone remember those?)

SSG released a program back in 1985 or so called Europe Ablaze for Apple II, Commodore 64 and IBM PC.

The graphics were primitive (CGA/EGA graphics - remember them..) though the gameplay was similar but not as sophisticated as BTR/BOB.

Maybe this is what you were thinking of.

There also was a game called USAAF for the C64. This BtR here is a third generation descendant of  that game.

it sounds more like USAAF, a really good/run game way back when

but a bit more like Pacwar the BTR is

but as said, I think 3 got the 3 Generations of the basic game idea listed here

Nah - this is the one you mean: http://uk.pc.ign.com/objects/013/013309.html

In a way, this is where this new game in coming from - thanks to the intense interest in 12 O'Clock High.

The guys that have been working on the new game have all been helping to Mod and patch 12 O'Clock High for years.

Amazing the Reg remembers all the way back to my old favourite Europe Ablaze - I should give him a game and crush him!

Apple II as well. In fact, I have an Apple emulator installed on my machine, and still play USAAF on occasion.

Still boot up Grigsby's original War in Russia on my Atari 800XL, too.

Unfortunately, I have never actually played an entire game of Europe Ablaze. I played a few turns on some friends Apple II and really liked what I saw but my machine of choice was the AMIGA!!!

I waited for years and years and despite making ports of some of their games (which I bought) they never made an Amiga version of this game (Roger are you listening, you missed an opportunity there.....)

I still have the Run5 magazines with all the additional scenarios to type in. Can anyone remember the Army Le'Air scenario, Hurricanes and D-520s vs Bf-109Bs without any ground radar over the French frontier (standing patrols rule..)
Cheers,
Reg.

Nice. [:)]

Here are some more ideas from the same source:
Issue 2: Case White: The destruction of the Polish Airforce. PLZ P11c vs Bf-109D on the western edge of the map. (Again no radar).
Issue 3: Zitadelle: Air war for the Kurst Salient. Does the map go this far east?
Issue 4: Flying Tigers: Operation Alpha. B-29s in China. This is probably covered quite effectively by another game.
Issue 6: Armee de L'Air: Invasion of France As above with correct spelling.

We can dream.........

I thought I was a strategy nut but I realise now that I am but a CL in the presence of BC's.
