Making Changes to the Settings of Map Preferences Doesn't Work

Post by ruixilyy »

I found that making changes to the settings of map preferences(such as show units instead of show group; show weather conditions; don't show the datalinks, etc) in the H3 launacher doesn't actually work in the game. When I open/load a scenario, it remains the same. I had check the harpoon3.ini and I did find the values had been changed. But why it fails to change in the game?? Maybe it is a bug?

You are correct. These settings seem to only affect the scenario editor when a new scenario is created. The game engine seems to use whatever preferences the scenario author was using in the scenario editor.

The fact is, whether using the default window scheme doesn't affect the result. The changes of map preferences made in the launcher never function except the change of the symbol set.

I wonder why no one tries to reply this post. I think at least some "experts" on this game should provide a way to solve this map setting problem.

I tried this method and when I loaded a save file the map preferences do appear. But I just want to use the launcher to set these preferences so as to make it take effect for every scenario (when I open them for the first time), not only to the saved ones. Otherwise I would think the settings in the launcher doesn't function at all.

And I find that there isn't any method to show seperate units other than the group(that means the settings in the launcher also don't work...)

As I said in my other post, saved scenario settings will override launcher settings, so at this time you are stuck with that. However you will be happy to know that using the 9 key on your numeric keypad switches between group and unit display mode on any map.
