Those Darned Poles

Those Darned Poles

Post by MPHopcroft1 »

Just got the game (thanks, Matrix!) and I'm reminded once again of my eternal weakness in grand strategy WWII games: my inability to conquer Poland. It should be a given that with a competent German player, Poland should fall in at most three turns. In effect, Poland becomes a dry run of sorts for the next year's Blitzkrieg in the West.

The problem is that I can't seem to get the Blitzkrieg to work. The combination of the movement and combat phases seems to be giving me trouble. And I seem to be having trouble getting effective use out of my air forces.

Call me a "clueless noob" perhaps, but what should I be doing to get the Poles to do what they should and fold up?

You know I concentrate on the Objective (WARSAW) by breaking through the lines, surrounding the city, then crushing the garrison forces in the city.

Don't try and bull rush everything, find a weak spot, hammer it, and break though (hint, look in the south)

it still takes me about 3 turns, last run, I had Warsaw done to 1 point on turn 2, so dierolls help

don't expect to follow a RL timeline, the game does not follow it well, just go ahead and do and enjoy yourself
