FW190A

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

FW190A

Post by ool »

In BTR the FW190A is not penalised for deteriorating performance over 18,000 feet. Fact is in Adolf Gallands memoirs, First and the Last, he specifically comments of the FW190A and its performance decline over 18,000 feet. In War In The Pacific the P40 and P39 aircraft is penalised for deteriorating performance over 10,000 feet. I would like to know if Grigsby or his researchers are aware of this mistake in the performance rating of the FW190A in the original game and are going to correct this omission in the new game? Considering the firepower of the FW190A a declining ability to survive allied escorting fighters over 18,000 feet would be rather signifigant!

That's right, but on the other hand, allied bombers in the old game are always flying at 31/32k beyond flak range, what is very unrealistic too. And I have never seen any reason (better target sight, better bombing results,...) not to fly in so high.
Seeing this, I think it's only fair that interceptors in the old version can intercept without penalities at any altitude.

Don't know about the bombers in the new version... maybe that will be corrected.

One can only hope so I loved the original game however you could mass produce the FW190A with its 20MM canon and give the Yanks a really hard time. Looking forward to this almost as much as the new Russian front game.

old game

there was a high Alt bombing bug, that was not really known about for a long time, so in fact, it was better to fly at 32,000 feet then it was to fly at 15,000 feet (in fact, it was in UV/WitP that it was finally found and corrected, and we found it (we knew about it)

190A, yes, it has a weakness as it gets higher

most planes if known weakness for some alt, have had that Alt weakness built in (early P-47s were poor at low alt, but very good at high, but gets better as the models change)

Spitfires have LF, F, and HF wings and Engine gearing modeled

the B-17 F could go to very high alt, the G had a much lower max alt, but the G is the better plane and with the bug fixed, flying the F at 32-35 K is not really a very good idea

so just in case, if it don't come across, bombing Acc is also based on alt, the higher you are, the worse it gets

and your never going to get over top of the AA (other then very high alt recon)

Will this be different for different types?
For example I would expect a B-17 at 23,000ft to be far more accurate than, say, an A-20 at that altitiude.

This isn't rely important, just curious.

from what i remember from the old game, the 17-24 have better Acc built in (that is why if you have even flown BC bombers during the day, they don't seem to hit as well)

so would say, there is a normal Bombing Acc and then another for the 17-24

so yes, you would be much better off with the A-20/B-25/26 flying at around 12-15,000 then over 20,000
