Formation frontages

Post by Deathtreader »

Hi all,

I'm currently replaying the "Gamble and Scramble" scenario as the allies and am trying to conduct a full infantry (units show as foot movement) brigade size sweep (movement order) with a frontage of 3000 meters, line formation, max aggro, max ROF, max firepower, fastest move speed, set at quickest path and the brigade flat out refuses to develope a frontage wider than 1000 meters or move at more than a snails pace. The terrain alternates between clear and occasional rough with no really steep slopes. This is the second consecutive day of these orders for this formation exhibiting this behaviour and for the life of me I can't figure out why. There's been no resistance or engagements in any unit logs, supplies are good, the threat tool shows no threats, not ever been bombarded. Anybody have any ideas??
This is not the 1st time I've noticed this sort of behaviour when issuing orders at the brigade/regiment level or higher. A quirk in the engine perhaps??
Regards,

Rob. [:)]

Rob,

I don't have COTA loaded up at the moment, so I tried this on our latest BFTB version and it looks fine. See the screenshot below. It's been a while since I worked on COTA and we have done so much since then that I'm not sure now as to when I made the changes to ensure frontage specified by the Player were enforced. Maybe it was after COTA. One thing to try would be to give your order and ensure that the facing is correct. What formation type are you using? What strength is the force (PersQty )

Hi,

Formation type is line. PERSQTY is 2396. Facing is AUTO.
I'm going to try it by changing path from quickest to shortest and manual facing instead of auto and see if it makes a difference
Thanks.
