Loading Ground Units

I'm having an issue with loading ground units.

I have a 12 ship (2 DD & 10AP--total load capacity 44,760) in San Francisco and am trying to load the 34th & 161st Infantry Rgmts.

When I click the "Select Units" screen, all that is displayed is air units. Not a single ground unit.

The 34th & 161st are attached to the "Pacific Fleet". They both have Pearl Harbor listed as their Future Objective (not that this should make a difference). The combined load cost for both units is less than 20,000 total.

I can load cargo and air units onto ships but cannot figure out how to load a ground unit.

Never had this issue in WITP. I've skimmed through the game manual but have not found out what the issue is.

Any tips from anyone?

You can't load troops when they are in combat mode ? Or can you only load combat-ready troops into Amphibious TFs ?

Correct.

Think of an Amphib TF as an assault TF, where the troops need to be good to go (combat mode posture).

A Transport TF is a port-to-port conveyance, where men and stuff is packed in tight (strategic mode posture).

Hmm I am trying to load a Japanese JAAF Coy into some merchies for transport. The AKs have 370 (I think) troop cargo but the unit does not even show up on the load troops screen. It does not appear to be part of a restricted HQ - I believe it belongs to Southern Army. Help ?
