Air Reconnaissance

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Air Reconnaissance

Post by Capt Cliff »

First will there be "fog of war", meaning you only see the units your next too and then have only limited information on them. Unless you've attacked them.

Second are units that are "behind the lines" visible to your opponent?

Last will there be air reconnaissance?

Yes there is air recon and it's a very important aspect of the game. If fog of war is on, you can't see units behind enemy lines unless you do air recon. Air recon improves detection level and the better the level the better your bombing raids do. You can only learn so much from Air Recon, up to detection level 4.

Production is also the subject to be tweaked.

Thanks Kid!! Can you have local fighters provide escort for the air recon, especially against heavy opposition. I assume with sufficent defensive fighter support you can affect the recon, even shoot a few down!

Geez Guy give it a rest about production!! [:-]

Yes, recon can have escort fighters. Probably it would be possible to assign fighters for the close recon tasks.

Are other types of intelligence represented in any way, i.e., signals intercepts?

yes, you can let the AI set the recon missions flown, or you can assign units to it

if you have your fighters forward enough, you can also set traps and use Recon as bait

a JG for protection, works wonders when the Russian decides to try and stop the Recon mission
