Will destroyed air unitl still return on their return date?

Post by SpankyMcFlych »

I'm looking at the PI air units with "will return on..." dates and I'm wondering if they'll still return on that date if they're destroyed in Philippines. For instance the 35th PG/21st PS air unit of p40E warhawks in the PI is scheduled to withdraw by 1 June, 1942 but has in blue lettering that it will return in April 45.

It's a restricted command and cannot be changed, so I won't be able to save it. When it's destroyed when PI ultimately falls will it still return in 1945? And where exactly will it return at heh? I can't really guarantee I'll have "returned" by then. I might end up breaking dougs promise and going some other route.

Or the bomber groups in the PI that you can change commands and save. The 19th BG/30th BS group of B17D's has to be withdrawn by 10nov, 1942. But it returns at Dec 44. If it's destroyed in the PI will it still return in 44? Or do I need to change commands and save it and then withdraw it normally by nov 42? I'd probably send it to china and thence to india and make use of it bombing stuff until it withdraws, but I dunno if I'll have the PP to burn to save it or not. It all depends on whether saving it is necessary for it to return at a later date.

Thanks for reading.

You can go into destroyed air groups and right click on them to buy them back with Political points should you want to keep an air unit that was destroyed. You will pay the PP one way or the other should you want the unit to get out of USFFE. Keep a mind on your overall strategy for PP's prior to deciding what to do with these planes. There may be something you want to keep more...like the 4th Marine Reginment...or release like a Australian brigade or mainland USA unit.
