Hi,

I am taking note on the capacity of vessels available in the scen in clicking report button for each vessel. So far it is fine with me, but just wondering if I could copy the whole text and save to somewhere else to print them out later.

Hi Kazunori,

no, afaik and have tried over the years, copy and paste is not implemented. This should be a request for the next update, I think. I don´t know if the current GUI is able to support this kind of helpful stuff.

So far a number of vessels I am conducting is quite small and taking note doesn't take so much time, so it wouldn't be a problem at all. If want to have the one in the formated text, I will try Irfanview as Darren suggested in this thread!

You´re welcome. Your hint is a good request. I, too, offten miss such copy and paste faetures in order to write scens more efficiently.

Iriyak,

doing what you are looking for is very simple. Just open the database with the Reimer database editor, look for the vessels you are interested in, and cut & copy them into either Excel, Word or Open Office (a free version of both Word and Excel). Then print the info you need from there.

for my understanding, since I´m no database guy: The Reimer Editor is that special MS Access-based database editor, right?

Does your hint work with the original ANW editor as well?

If so, that would be helpful. But still it would be really useful to have those copy and paste support in all text fields from within the game or at least the scen editor itself.

As you suggested, I could make a list of mounts in copying &pasting all the records found in "Ship Annex" window. I need to drill down to get the capacity and weapon records for each mount in "Mount Annex" window, but enough for me to start with! [8D]

Yes, it is. I am using H3RE in Microsoft Office 2007 SP2 without major issues!

I use the H3RE too.  In a real combat situtation, much of that same data would be readily on hand in the event of an attack.  Is there some sort of feature where all of the data can be printed on one or two pages?

I think the in game viewer works but if anybody knows access enough you could mod the reimer editor to get all ranges etc on one sheet etc. There isn't anything that prevents you from adding forms, queries etc. I think the biggies are sensor and weapons ranges etc.

True! In a boxed Harpoon 4 game, we will prepare such form. I want to build on the fly with my H3RE [:)]

Want to have my own! [8D] Or HARPOON FORM 1a might be what I want to have and accustomed to.

Would it be better to use Form 10?  The one you see for the Annexes?  Might be better to keep the size down on the sheet.  At the very least the user will want to know sensor data to ID the skunk or racket.  After that weapons will be the next piece of information you'd want to know........

I don't know very much about Access but I'd be glad to test out any modifications to the RE....that's assuming the devgru is ok with it....

Gents,

Jon Reimer designed just such a report for me many years ago. It outputs the data from the Harpoon2/3/ANW database and converts it to a standard Miniatures game format for platforms.

If the attached pic resembles what Kazunori and anyone else is looking for, I'll attempt to get the H2Report.mdb file updated for H3ANW. I believe AGSI have somebody with the skills to make the report writer functional again.

The attachment shows the F-111C as it appeared in the HUD-II circa 1998. MS Access & the RE have undergone updates that, make the current version I have here non-functional at present. I also have another report that outputs data for each country file as well.

For a basic printed version of your database platforms, the standard ANW DB editor will print individual platforms or entire annexes. Open H3Editor.exe and from the menu options, select:

Database ->
Print Entry->
Ship -> Scroll Down & Select ->
F 207 Bremen [Klasse 122]

Go to your ANW parent folder:
C:\Matrix Games\Harpoon 3.X Advanced Naval Warfare\

There will be a file, "SHP26.TXT" or whatever index number the particular ship you want to look at is assigned in the database. I've attached the output from the HUD3 and although not exactly what we're looking for it could serve as an interim measure.

I've attached the output from the H3Editor.exe for your example ship, you could possibly pencil in the range figures from the Unit Database window for now for weapons and sensors, until I can have the H2Report.mdb updated. I'll keep you advised Kazunori

Until this time I've never had a chance to invoke the editor, but worked perfectly!

Yes, it is exactly what I want to have in my mind and look for! Would be appreciated if it could be released in MS Access mdb since it allows to change an appearance or a cosmetic flavor easily.

Howdy Mike

Not sure I follow.

There are some folks who sounded like they wanted to bend some Access code, which is great. If they wanted their efforts to be put into the distro, I simply wanted them to contact me before they started changing stuff.

For those who can't code, but have requests, we can start some threads to that effect.

We are about to start a discussion on details of two features currently slated for 3.11:
1. Rev 2 of the Piracy model
2. Rev 1 of a polygon effects model.

We wanted to "test" the intended implementation of new features with the community, and to start getting folks used to our "agile" approach of more frequent, incremental releases.


Rusty will be posting on these as soon as we have the Gold build QA out of the way (we just got the first of the 3 manuals this afternoon).
