Unit Counter Qestion
I simply dont understand what the number on the counters mean. I of course understand the Nato counter division number, but just cant seem to find an explanation of what the siluet counter numbers mean. Anyone? Thanks!

I don't know and I don't really care. You just need to take a chill pill, though.
EDIT: All the icons on the counters correspond to the icons on the bottom bar when you select a unit. Just hold right click and hover over the icons and they will tell you what they mean.

you need to chill. if you dont care, then why are you here? Its a function of the game that you will need to understand if you wish to buy and play the game. chill out with the chill out and you just might learn something here.

I think you are missunderstanding my question. For exapmple, I am looking at the 10th Panzer Division(poland scenario), which has a "43" under a picture of a tank. none of the info below explains what that number represents, none of the numbers even match...

I've wondered the same thing myself. I think it refers to the total "strength" of the unit, like the number on the counters in AT did. It's an abstract number that AT referred to the PP cost of the units (I think). It's like a summary of how strong (in attack and defense) the unit is.

RE: Unit Counter Qestion
thanks for an honest shot at that, and you are probably right, but I cant confirm 100% because I cant find it anywhere in the manual. some infantry show 50, some 28. Some arty shows 21, ect...

RE: Unit Counter Qestion
In DC:Blitzkrieg you can consider the numbers on the siluet counters to be the ammount of troops in the unit. So 21 means 2100 and 50 means 5000 soldiers. It is thus an indication of the strength of the unit. It can distort a bit from reality with large tank units though. But as a rule of thumb it will give a good indication.

RE: Unit Counter Qestion
Vic I am total at sea with unit counters. I need pictorial representation and explanation I can't relate the numbers, the unit counters in relation to the unit base info and trying to make head or tail of unit combos. You have say the German 24 Inf div on the counter shows 50, but when add up all the numbers on the unit troops Interface it only adds up to about 4300. Also in unit detail screen please explain ratio and individuals

RE: Unit Counter Qestion
I see these numbers a computed 'combat value'. It may start as a reflection of troop strength, but if you bombard and air attack the unit, the number changes dramatically (even down to 0) although the unit still has troops. So, morale etc must be included in the calculation IMO.
I am talking about the big number you see on the unit just below its NATO icon in the max zoom level...

Yes the value on the siluet counters is modified for readiness, experience and people specific bonus (like with SS). So yes the base value is based on 100 soldiers per point as stated in previous post, but it is modified and thus can better be read as a "combat value" score.
best,
Vic

RE: Unit Counter Qestion
G'day Vic as I said earlier there needs to be graphical description and explanation of the counters. Also I am playing the Netherlands scenario. the German 254 Inf div on the Silhouette counter shows a gun not infantry!

RE: Unit Counter Qestion
Well, the 254 have in NATO counters the infantry symbol with the small A refered to an arty unit (same for all divisional artillery units) because really it is an arty unit that have some infantry (i think that they are crews of guns and maybe a small conventional infantry component) maybe for NATO symbols is better use the same as in silhouette because when i see the infantry symbol i usually forvige that is an arty unit because the *A is to small with medium zoom (even for full zoom in) but this is the same for other division like armor division where infantry regiments have the NATO tank symbol when the motorized or mechanized symbol is the correct.
I dont know if is possible change this or divisions only can asume one type and you cant change regiment type for NATO symbols [&:]

RE: Unit Counter Qestion
Yes, that 'A' is really hard to see. There is an 'artillery' dot above the A which helps a little, but in medium zoom it's an issue for sure. I am now used to the fact that most divisions will include an artillery element, so I look for it each time...
