Heavy Industry

Post by ool »

Heavy industry can be moved piecemeal as stated in the manual. However what I don't see is how long from the time you evacuate HI and pick a new location does it take before the HI is reassembled and considered back in production? Example: I evacuated all the HI from Minsk to the last row of hexes on the east side of the map next to the Urals before the German could block such a move. With all the HI evacuated in one block shipment how long till it is producing again in the new location? Unlike AFV factories there is no damage just reassembly.

I was not aware that disassembled factories are considered the same as being damaged. I would've thought that reassembling would be a faster process as you don't have to reproduce damaged factory components.

Theoretically, they can start producing again when they're below 50% damage. It usually takes a factory 4 to 6 months to become undamaged, depending on factory type.

So it is treated the same as in BTR. Thanks for that clarification.

Dumb newby question, but I'm reading the manual of Factory Evacuations, but I still don't see how to do it. I hit the rail mode button and click on a city with factories, but what do I do next?

Also, is there a thread on what factories should be moved, and when?

Click on a city ie Minsk. In the upper right hand corner you see the city name, click on it. Brings up a screen listing the factory types. Select for example HI. Right hand arrows to pick the number you want to move out. Once you get to four factories selected hit the "MOVE" button. You now get the map again with certain hexes in green. These are where you can relocate the factories selected to. Scroll to the east edge of the map. Select a city to move the factories to by right clicking on the highlighted city square. You will get message that they are being relocated.

Thanks. Its easier than I thought.

Now any advice or any good threads on when to move factories and which ones to move. I evacuated all the factoried at Minks on turn 1, I think that was an obvious move. What about other places?

Concentrate on the Donets basin in the Ukraine. Everywhere there are factories to be moved. Just click on the cities and check out the factory inventories.

Any factory that helps your cause and isn't left to the Germans is useful if not critical. Minsk, Gomel,Odessa etc. All these towns add up to a nice bunch of production that I certainly wouldn't leave to the Germans. Especially when they can be rescued on the first turn. Scorched earth is the Russian way.
