Hi all,
ORIGINAL: USS America
ORIGINAL: Apollo11
ORIGINAL: USS America

A new laptop for me should arrive today! [:)]

What did you order?

What vendor? Make? Model?

Is it new "SandyBridge" (if yes you should check for replacement)?

Nothing special, but a great deal. I get an employee discount on new and used Lenovo computers, and have used ThinkPads for years at work. I ordered a "refurbished" T61p:

Lenovo ThinkPad T61p (B56)
$431.20*
IBM Web Price
$539.00*
In stock**
Used Laptop (Refurb)
Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 2.40 GHz
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition
4096MB/4096MB
Slightly blemished*
100GB
15.4" TFT
CD-RW/DVD-RW Combo
Gigabit Ethernet
56K
Intel 802.11a/g Wi Fi Wireless and Bluetooth
3 months limited

It's a faster processor than my current work laptop, with 2x the RAM (in case I want to put a 64-bit OS on it later), bigger HDD, and larger display. The coolest part is that I just ordered it yesterday morning with free shipping, and it should arrive today, as it is coming from a warehouse in the same city as me. [:D]

Nice! [:)]

BTW, I have 15+ IBM ThinkPads (now Lenovo ThinkPads) at work...

Any news regarding RAF future Martin?

I read that 1/4 of almost graduated RAD trainee pilots will be sacked due to lack of available airplanes... [:(]

Thx.....for the morning commute, i offer this corporate amusement.

Naturally i was at work this morning before start of shift....but my alarm chose this moment to not go off on time....so i ended up being "late" and have a tardy point for clocking in 15 minutes late. My Karma is seriously wacked.

Fortunately i have no bullets....only a nerf gun. I'm very good with it.

Post-work tithe... I got a new boss a few days ago and she's really busy marking her territory. Very irritating.

Come on, Nik, you have to be able to laugh at the irony of that! [:)]

Now: a glass of wine
The era of procrastination, of half-measures, of soothing and baffling expedients, of delays, is coming to a close.
In its place we are entering a period of consequences..

I want to take this moment to again thank everyone en-masse for their thoughts, prayers and support during this rough time for me. Possibly the worst aspect of this whole experience was the way in which the ex made me feel like i was not only the villian of the play, but also a completely unlikable oaf of whom all her (formally "our") friends, family and co-workers universally disliked and wished to see her move on to a better human. This Dogpiling of me made me feel lower than the stuff you scrap off your shoes.

Being able to vent my experiences here was integral to my regaining my center. Things may be rough right now....but at least i know i can come here for support and interaction. Material things, including libraries can be replaced but friends are a precious resource...online or in person.
