Does anybody know the purpose of the Yak-9s that start appearing in June 44? I have read that they were sometimes used to escort 8th AF bombers on shuttle missions but if they are supposed to be for the Eastern Command then who will fly them?

there was a Russian Squadron that flew with the BAF, based in Italy in 1944, I was able to get most of the pilots names from a friend working with me on WitE (he gets a lot of his info/data from Russian websites/books)

That's great, I was hoping some Russian pilots would turn up somewhere!
