New screenie on Matrix's main page!

Korsun Pocket is a the second game using the award winning SSG Decisive Battles game engine. Korsun Pocket recreates the desperate German attempt to escape encirclement on the Russian Front early in 1944. The battle is a tense and exciting struggle, with neither side having a decisive advantage, as the Russians struggle to form the pocket, then try to resist successive German rescue efforts and last ditch attempts at breakout.

Hi Dan

If you go to Matrix's Korsun Page and click on the history link, you will find more neat stuff.

Wow, that screen is very cool!

I've been anxious for this game for years. Any word on anticipated release? Just a totally fantastic looking product!

Hi Capitaine

Those **** beta testers are very lazy but are finished with the Xmas holidays and are back at work! I don't know a release date but if I had to guess on the product's status I would say 90-95% finished.

Perhaps Ross Moorhouse could add more next time he is reading this.

I too was dissapointed with HOI, not that its bad , just perhaps not my cup of tea.

I'm really excited about thye Matrix version of Korsun, recently I have been playing HPS's version, which is good ,but it sure is a real time eater in respect to how much is involved in doing just one turn.

Anyway U2 if looking for good wargames, perhaps try a HPS title, at least till the Matrix version is released:-).

Question for the head honcho's here, or anyone in the know, what is gonna be the scale of the game ? is it like the original TAO insomuch as Division/Regiment or will it go down to the scale of the HPS version insomuch as Regiment /Battalion/Company?

I have seen the HPS games on web sites, read the reviews and seen the screen shots.

My view is that the HPS games are too much like the old board games of history. Thye don't seem to take advantage of computung power to make better games.

TAO2 is a very simple game for the reason that it takes advantage of computing power.

Joe 98, you are SO right!! TAO2 is deceptively "easy" because SSG make such excellent use of the power of the PC. It is a very sophisticated game; something the HPS "Panzer Campaigns" or whatever don't effectively tap.

The DBWW2 engine (TAO2) is still the best around for any WW2 operational simulation. Just so slick and elegant. :D
