Lost a CV: What to do with air fragments

Post by Speedy Gonzales »

Hi guys,

Hornet went done, some fragments of her air group evacuated to a nearby base. The main units show up as destroyed. Is there a way to rebuild the main unit or to turn the fragment into the main unit?

Thanks!

There is a way to rebuild the air unit, you have to spend PP to bring it back (Air losses screen). For now, try to repair the planes in the fragments and disband them. This way you can re-use them, no way to rebuild the parent from the fragments without the CV.

hmm, i thought that under the latest patch, a sole-survivor fragment would change into a viable parent. that the change would depend on a new game-turn cycle, and perhaps also on good supply available at the base where the survivors landed. if they landed on a CV, fly the frag off to a friendly high-supply base.

if it don't become a parent after a turn or two, disband the frag, see if you can buy it back from the destroyed air-units screen.

Group fragments don't swap with parents like LCUs do. The fragment generally dies off as it doesn't take replacements, so disbanding is usually the better option as you have some control then.

Unless it is an emergency and you direly need the aircraft, I would just disband the fragments. If the parent unit is on the map you can then rebuild it fully. If not, as said above, you can buy it back.
