Foreign mining bases in my territory...

Post by Sire »

Hi there!

I just colonized a system which happens to have a mining base of a different empire on the neighbour planet of said colony.
The system is now under my influence and nobody else should be able to build there without declaration of war. But -of course- the mining base is still there...

I'd like to get rid of it without declaring war on them (not only because they are the Anceint Guardians and it's early-game) because I cannot build my own mining base there.
How do I do that?

Thanks for helping me out!

With regards, Sire

You can go to the diplomacy screen and attempt to purchase the station from them, you can attempt to hire pirates to remove the station, or you can order fleet elements to attack the mining station (you do not need to declare war in order to do this, and it doesn't necessarily result in a state of war, but it will hurt your reputation and cause a relations hit).

Thanks!

But how exactly do I attempt to buy the station? I cannot find that option...

If you go into the diplomacy menu, select the 'Speak With' option with the owners of the station, open the 'Trade' option in the screen that comes up (I think that's what it's called - if not, it's the screen where you can trade money, technology, etc). There should be a section on the side labelled 'disputed stations' if there are stations owned by that faction in your space. Then you trade it like you trade anything else in that menu - click on it, then offer a bunch of stuff from your side of the menu to offer in exchange.

Get an intelligence agent to blow it up.

Oh right, there is no such option because they refuse to trade with me.
Sending an agent to blow it up is a viable option now...

Anyway - Thanks!

you can also capture it. You'll take a diplo hit, but it's not usually the end of the world.

Or if they are friendly and you gave them mining rights, just ignore it. I generally have a few MDPs signed with mining rights, and so long as you have mining rights and they do as well, you don't take a diplomacy hit for having the mines in each other's territory.

Mining stations don't bother me so much, unfriendly fleets get driven off though.
