Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Since Flashpoint's Red Storm has reminded me I like grand tactical scale games, and these are reduced this week ...

does anyone have a view as to respective merits - ie like one/like both, or does this have a completely different feel and set of advantages and disadvantages?

Love both games..but they play very differently. FC:RS is easier to get into and understand how to play compared to CO. I love CO series but found the Bulge scenarios abit of a slog (mainly due to the terrain) compared to Conquest of the Aegean scenario, COTA being my favourite release. The good thing is though eventually you'll be able to play all the old COTA scenarios if you buy the Greece expansion and then the Crete expansion. Also you can get the HTTR expansion for BFTB which is on sale aswell..might be worth buying both. I haven't played CO HTTR scenarios but did own AAHTTR and Red devils and I may get this now it;s in the sale.

I'd try out the BFTB demo.
