New Babes Updates
Monster update to Babes files, both DaBigBabes and BabesLite. First one in a year and a half !! Woof !! Updates to AAA data in the Device file and Airplanes in the Air file.
Device File: Lots of math applied to the ordnance statistics of each weapon, effective AA ceiling, effective AA effect, AA accuracy. Damn, Babes was pretty close with an out-of-the-butt calculation for sec_stuff. Anyway, these are now rendered righty-tighty. Sec_Eff, Sec_Acc, are smoother and mo’bedda. Some guns are better, some guns are worse. Don’t forget that Eff and Acc are not effect and accuracy, but just numbers that go into an algorithmic calculation machine. It’s relative values that matter, not absolute values.
Air File: This is a biggie. Lots of math applied to the statistics of each plane. Ceiling, in general, is cut. Speed is sometimes adjusted according to contemporary test reports. All speed, for all aircraft, is determined at “military” power at critical altitude. Maneuver at bands have been extensively adjusted to account for HP at Alt, I know that there will be severe whining about one number or another, but just multiply speed x maneuver at the various bands, and do comparisons, and you just might find out a thing or two.
Oh yeah, stuck back the lost supply from the Refinery Supply=0 thing. Added identical supply generation to LI in a hex close to the refinery location. No “fortress Palembang””.
Will be a day or two before it’s posted up, so check dates before you download. 2012 is the last rev. 2013 will be the new rev.

Btw, a word to the ASW people. The only significant change, in Babes, to IJ ASW, is the number of launchers on a very limited number of IJN E-type vessels (i.e., those that broke the code algorithm by having too many launchers). But they have signifigant power, nevertheless. Sone get 10 launchers (ASW =10). They are more powerful than any Allied ship, except for the '44/45 versions of Allied DEs, with maybe ASW of 10 or 12. Are you arguing that a kaibokan is within 10% of an Allied DE?
You guys whining about your ASW results need to bark up some other tree. It's not the data, it's your use of it.

A little bit concerned as a novice Japan player. I normally do not repair LI, but I do repair some refinery's depending on the location and situation. One of the considerations to repair is I get supply as well. Having supply generated by LI that can\will be damaged will definitely be a tough choice on the Jap player when considering how to use their supply for repair. Will the LI be in the same hex as the refinery or will it be separated by distance that will cause additional wastage? Just some thoughts on the issue. Looking forward to see how you implement this. I really appreciate what you and the other contributors have done with the DBB.

I appreciate that input. I hadn't thought about that. Might put some LI (supply gen) in the same places as refineries in the IJ HI. Obviously don't want to do that in the DEI [8D]. As always the "Law of Unintended Consequences" rears its ugly head. Thanks for focusing my attention.ORIGINAL: Skyros

Seems almost everywhere there's a refinery there's also LI, so simply bumped LI up (in bases with refineries) by the refinery value. So, you guys get your supply back, and the Allies can bomb the same old places to take it away again [;)]. Sourcing, flow, and targeting will be same as it ever was, but will now be again, and ever shall be, world without end, amen. [;)].
[ed] Didn't add LI to the DEI or other places. Number of reasons. Biggest reason is one doesn't want Palembang producing 1000 supply every day. That's what caused the gamey 'fortress Palembang' thing. Not goodnik. The other reason is that the only 'supply' that refineries produced was avgas and lubricants. Now, you don't eat avgas, you don't shoot avgas, and you don't wipe your butt with avgas, so it seems stupid to have out-of-the-way places in Borneo (Borneo ???) and such like producing supply for the IJ juggernaut. It's a personal and arbitrary choice. One can mod it to their heart's content. I don't mind. [end ed]
Then there’s the whole refinery thingy. The ratio between DEI and Japan is skewed towards the DEI, butt
There’s a missing Japanese refinery center. Nippon Oil and the IJN had complexes at Tokuyama/Kudamatsu that could process 5.3M bbls annually. That’s 13-15% of the total Japanese refinery capacity. Also it’s as big as (bigger, actually) the refinery complexes in Brunei. So took the refinery at Tokuyama from 5 to 170 and reduced the refineries at Palembang by 170. That makes the DEI/Japan refinery capacity ratio much closer to the historical value and improves the impetus to ship oil to the HI for processing. Also added a 170 LI complex at Tokuyama.
All while keeping it as close to stock as humanly possible. Mike, I’ll get you the specs for John 3rd. It’s only 15 bases and I have them all listed by slot number. Should be easy to do.
