How long is one turn?

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

How long is one turn?

How many emails would it take to play a PBEM game?

Depends on what scenario/campaign you're playing. For the AoD edition, early turns take about 20 minutes, whereas late turns with all combatants participating and much of the build Qs activated, perhaps 30 minutes to an hour.

As far as a complete game to 1947, there are 18 turns per year, so figure about a 125 turns, perhaps a little less, but usually one side or the other will surrender before then. A turn a day and you'll need 3 months to complete a PBEM game.

What is "AoD"?

So, each turn represents about 3 weeks?

Are there any administrative type turns that increase the number of emails?

"Assault on Democracy", the world map, the longest of the series.

Turns lengths are seasonal dependent, Winter turns are a month long, sequential, so each player will get approx 3 turns for the whole of the winter. Summer, the more active season of combat operations, are two weeks in length.

One email completes one turn, zip it up and send to your opponent. When he replies you'll observe the replay, if you wish, and then it's time for a new turn. No saving during a turn, you must finish your moves and play out the turn to completion.

SC excels in PBEM matches, but you can move the PBEM file to the "on line" folder and play over the internet, back and forth to finish multiple turns at one sitting. Especially useful in the early game and the less active winter turns.

So a 6 year campaign will last about 180 turns.

I prefer PBEM but most opponents are on the other side of the world so a 180 turn game will easily take 250 days. I am OK with that so long as the opponent is.

To learn the game, will there be short say 20 turn scenarios?

Hi Joe 98,

With almost all of our releases we've included a few smaller campaigns that help you get a feel for the system. I can't say for sure that we'll be doing that for SC3 as the list of campaigns is not yet finalized, but at the same time I almost don't see why not [;)]

We'll have more details one way or the other as soon as we get there so to speak [:)]
