Ardennes 1944 revisited

Post by r6kunz »

In remembrance of the 16 Dec German Ardennes Offensive, here is the latest version of Ardennes 1944.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/632 ... 201944.zip

Designed using TOAW 3.4 and Opart 3XBb. Changes in v3.8 include: entrenchment rate to 33%, Attrition Divider to 28; MRPB=4. and a number of minor map, TOE and OB changes aimed at giving the Germans, with careful planning and a little luck, the ability to reach their historic objectives.

An interesting design issue is how to handicap the Allied side. Using TOAW parameters that allow the Germans to just reach their historic objectives near the Meuse by 24 Dec, the PO Allied January Counteroffensive is able push to the Germans back over their start line by 15 Jan. Historically, however, the 15 Jan forward edge of battle only ran through HOUFFALIZE and Patton was not able to bag the German army. I have tinkered with Allied supply, shock, replacement, bias to handicap the Allies in January with varying degrees of success. Results of playtest by others, and suggestions would be appreciated.

Dupuy, in his book Hitler's Last Gamble, one of my primary sources, used the Ardennes as data for a computerized model of combat performance.

Smashing Doc!

I got plenty of time to test it out, perhaps I find even a PBEM mate (fulcrum90 perhaps) and give you some feedback. I am still snowed in up the mountains of WV. atm and had my taste of snow for the next months to come :)

Hello and thanks for the Update,

Unfortunately Version 3.4.0.202 does not Find (or see) the Scenario in the Dir.

What did i Wrong i copied the 3 Files into the WW2 West Scenario and a New created Dir but TOAW3 did not see the Scenario.

Please Help and Advise

HPT KUNZ, great scenario...With 8 turns played I can say it´s very funny. Games is been very fluid and challenging. Good idea to put 33% of entrenchment rate. Perhaps you could apply this rate to your Road to Moscow serie. Btw, germans have seized Bastogne. Wainting for Oberst_Klink´s reply [;)]

Nein! I haven't played the turn yet! What a spoiler, companiero! Anyway, first things first, work, wargaming articles, food and while writing listening to the 2.BL and 1.BL.
