What is the maximum, playable size for a map in Command Ops?

In the following thread, according to Arjuna, the size is adjustable based on performance trades a map author (and Dave) are willing to accept in playing the game.

Basically, the larger the map, the slower the in game terrain calculations to a point where Dave has determined that the calculations hinder playability.

It appears there may be a 50 x 50 KM limit -- you can probably test this by creating a "new map" horizontal and vertical size in MapMaker and seeing if it brings up a blank map screen to which you can add terrain information.

Take care,

The 50km limit isn't hardcoded, but the total area is, and there is a higher but still restricted maximum dimension for the 'thinner' map shapes.

It may be possible to take advantage of improving hardware performance and optimisations to increase this in future, but it would also require improvements to operational inputs (changing postures with success/failure, replacements, recovery and logistic limits), plus additional changes to aspects of intelligence and control to get the most from it IMO.

Thank you for the comments! I've created a new map that is 39km x 25km so it would seem that I am inside the safe zone for any performance considerations.
