Rebase digression freeze

Post by Majorball68 »

Playing Netplay game. 2nd Impluse Barborssa Scenario, Russian infantry overran an organised German aircraft unit. Rebase digression phase activated. German player was able to rebase plane however the Russians could not continue movement and the aircraft unit still showed as being in the hex overrun. I dont have a save because it would not let me save at that point. I have a save from an earlier phase though.

I think your description of the problem is good enough for me to reproduce it. No need for a saved game.

It might be because the Allied side overran an Axis unit. NetPlay is sometimes sensitive to which side is the phasing side when processing the code on both computers.

I have had this problem several times in a solo Global War game at different points in the game. The issue occurs when a naval rebase is necessary due to overrun or country surrender and there are no ports available within range to rebase. Clicking on the
show legal moves
yields a reply of
no legal move available
[these are paraphrases, but you get the point]. So far I have worked around by gong to a previous restored game and changing so that no overrun occurs or all ships are destroyed. The one I am having now with a surrender of Russia is too big to make this viable.

1. is there a way to destroy the naval unit rather than rebase? some sort of funky key combination that will eliminate the unit so that it does not have to rebase?
2. looking at the forum, this seems to be a prevalent and rampant bug...when might it be fixed?
3. any other suggestions so that I can continue the game and not have to abandon it?

Part of this problem is already fixed in the current Beta release being tested.
For your point 3, post a savegame. I will see what is fixed for your case this weekend, and otherwise will try to help you so that you don't have to abandon it.
The release is due early next week, betatesting this release gave Steve enough reason to work a bit longer on it. Fixing supply bugs is more difficult than taking Leninggrad

Thanks for the quick response. I'd be glad to post my saved game...but don't know how or where. I located my saved game file on my computer. Let me know where to post and I will get it to you.

You should zip it and then upload it to this thread. Click on "Reply" and then there will be a link in the bottom left to click on for you to navigate to where you saved the zip and choose it to upload.

Paul,
Here is the file. Once opened, proceed to letting Russia surrender and say YES. It is when trying to rebase the hopelessly lost Russian navy that the error is evident.

I managed to get all Russian ships to an allied harbour, but for the BB Marat. We have indeed a problem here. I will report this.

However - may I ask why you want to surrender with the Russian? I suppose to try out a what-if scenario? Although their position is weak, it is not desolate? To continue with this gamesave it could make sense to not give-in with the Russians.

We got a new beta version this weekend, and it looks like this problem is fixed. Expect the fix to be included in the next release.
