is this WAD? navel ?

Post by freeboy »

I put the grande fleet, Brit, into the blockade box nearest Skapa Floe. The game setting where set to minimize micro mngmt and allow no cohesion lose at 66% effective. My fleets sitting there feel to pieces? this is not what I expected with this setting?

Please advice, is this broken?

I think Jim Burns had posted something similar about this in a different post. It may be that it is having some hiccups at the moment.

*Edit* Yeah check his post titled "Naval Boxes Handling Rule"

Not sure do you mean their cohesion fell off dramatically? I know in ACWII you had to have them set to BLUE x2.

cohesion fell off, germans showed up, national moral fell.... so while winning on land and having fun I have such low NM... its restart time! lol
now if I could only save a game and re name it!
what a sad effort from a once proud company

Hi Freeboy, sorry you're not enjoying the game much. I'm actually having a ball, and think it's a great addition to the line. I really like how it plays so differently depending on what group of powers (side, I suppose) you choose. As players, we need to remember, however, that unlike ACW2, if you're trying to win EAW on the ocean, you can't. The ocean war was minimal at best in WW1, and this game reflects that perfectly. As Germany, I rarely use my fleets (try to bash the Russians, which is kind of satisfying), but loss of a fleet is devastating to national morale, and that means it's better to let the Brits control the ocean -- they will anyway.

As to renaming a game:

a. go to the menu
b. click "load"
c. click on your saved game (the date is always listed in the default name)
d. click the cog symbol at top-right
e. click the pencil symbol at top-right
f. enter your name

This is often a good thing to do if you want to play several games at once, or to keep one on file, since the game auto-saves 3 turns and will overwrite old default-named games.

am new to this game (and AGEOD) so i may have got this wrong

but don't you need to save the game before you go to the menu (or it auto saves) - then when you rename you are just overwriting the save thats already there so does that mean you lose it?

also, when you use this method it doesn't (or at least i don't remember that it did) add the turn number to the save like it does to the in game save method

the save/load system is just bad bad bad!!

The game will auto-save 3 turns, unless in the options you ask it to save more. Yes, renaming renames the save file, so once you rename it the saved games list will reflect your new save name. And correct, the rename is the name you noted and not a turn number, but the game-date is still reflected in the saved name (1914, late July). Wow, lots of "save" and "name" in all that description! Hope it's clear!
