yep this made the game not so offsettable... a littel air fleet with 3 Daitai a 3 x 36 plans. Ok in the middel of 1942...

Option: a improved variant of the LIZ in middel 1943 ? ( change 7,7mm Mg with 12,7 mm type 1 Mg + Armor and reduce Range) ?

Question: i have installed the RA Mods and BTS 1.3... ever i to look to the mods and all conversion to the Claa and Caaa and Fuso Ise hybrid carrier and CL Minelayer was not active ? My Database is full with nice conversions of all this types but i can not see this conversions in Game ?

I've toyed with the idea of a slightly upgraded model of LIZ along the lines described.

Just plunked around in the Mod Folders and found the RITA already existing. Knew it was there just simply had to find it. LIZ on the other hand is a different story. Does anyone have her in one of the existing Mods?

RE: Japanese IJN Heavy Bombers? Me-264???

Post by el cid again »

The only really interesting ultra long range bomber
design that might have been exported to Japan early
enough to matter is the Me-264. This was not
originally a sanctioned deign, and it was early
enough to have been funded instead of the FW-200
modification which actually got funded. We put
this in WITP days in RHS for a while and found that
a realistic modeling of the plane consumed vast
amounts of supply points (because it achieved range
using extra tanks modeled as "internal drop tanks"
known IRL as bomb bay tanks) and took forever to
repair. We removed it from the game, but Nemo
adapted it for his mod. It is doubtful political
permission to export the design could have been
obtained or that jigs could have reached Japan
after they were made (unless carried on prototype
But if you want a bomber with range - nothing else
compares on the Axis side - in time for the war.
There is the G10N - of course - but Nakajima was -
like Messerschmidt - working on his own without
official support until too late to matter.

Any update on missing ship art?? G.6 and the two new Allied hybrid CLVs?

I am still looking for a G.6. Think Gary Childress has one that might be of use and wrote him about it yesterday.

The art work for the Allied CAVs was fixed a while ago. There is nice differences between the Charlotte and Allied CAVs.

John, Is there an additional update coming for BTS? And if so, can it be added to a game in progress? Thanks....GP

I think the interest in this is making Japan pay as possible for in a game. Let's suppose war is going well for Japan, win several carrier battle in Napoleon way and sunk a bunch of US submarines in harbors, all resources flow in Japanese industry and then Japan can shift its production for heavy bombers.
It think the limitation should be the expense in R&D, building factories, production, maybe even making a specific aircraft engine that needs to be developed, and engine factories build/expended just for this monsters.

My friend.

You are doing pretty much exactly what the universe of Babes Teams have said should never, ever happen. And that is to pander to your players and skew your scenario, on a daily basis, to the wants/desires of your "auditors". I admire your desire to be open and incorporate other voices. But you are allowing the 'other voice' tail to wag your entire dog.

Trying to be all things to everyone, you are drifting into darkness. You need to forget what your forum people say on issues that are fundamental, because they don't really know jack.

Can help some, but not here. To PM or not to PM, Woof !! JWE

Not to be contentious, but I don't understand why what another designer may or may not have said a designer should do, has any bearing on what someone else should or shouldn't do. The way I see it, John is free to do whatever he chooses, if people play his mod and are happy with that it, then in my book that qualifies as success. Each and every person that has purchased this game, has as much right to do whatever they like as the next person. If someone wants to listen to feedback and put it into their mod, then so be it. Play it or don't, your choice.

As far as the Rita goes it is already in the database. Any idea which slots you want them in or can I make the choice? I'll work on it and let you know when they are done.

Rick

OK. I have no slot preference. You can download all the plane art folders from the RA Site. RA has all the extra Zero variants that we added.

If you could add/check on the LIZ and RITA then make sure there is a Commonwealth Buffalo for the HMAS Melbourne and HMNZS Wellington it would be GREAT!

Let me know if there are issues. Please email me when you are rolling, otherwise, Post here for commentary.

THANKS!

Ok, good news! Both the Rita and Liz are already in the artwork and I didn't need to add anything. Basically, the Liz occupies slots 129, 130 & 131. The Rita occupies slot 73. I added the 3-tone Buffalo to slot 24 and the monotone grey version to slot 28. I will email you the modified files.

More important, possibly, is that a Liz with
more powerful engines would be faster.

I regard the Liz as worth having - not
because it has great range for a four engine
bomber - but because it has a significant
bombload - and Japan has no other bomber
in that league early on. I build em
even in spite of losing two twin engine
bombers in place - and find em worth having.
The JAAF also had variations - using names like
Ki-85.

I second your motion. A modder should be free to do whatever he wants
for whatever reasons make sense to him. There is no such
thing as "should never happen." These are games for fun.

Hi John,
Sent you a private note explaining my thoughts on this. One, of course may do as they wish, but there are always implications.

In Babes, implications is our middle name. Sometimes it runs up against another scenario wall. 99% of the time it's cool, but how is it positioned for some other basis?

John has my explanation. It is his scenario and his nickel. Ciao. JWE

I absolutely agree. All I do is provide cautions. If you want to play Sid's vision, you are entitled and most welcome [:D] This, then, is the end of my participation. Hope you have fun with what you chose. Good bye.
