While they were hit hard and you destroyed the fragment of the raiding unit, the total loss in combat squads was about 170.
That's about half of a divisions worth and some of that loss was from the fragment destroyed so the Division is likely still at half strength likely with very high disruption.
A shock attack could still be a very bloody way to go so personally I would limit it to a DA and then if successful again follow that with an SA.
I didnt mean what to do regarding the unit if possible. BTW, he escaped since I already made him retreat out of the hex and for some reason the bombers set to bomb him did not fly 2 turns in a row 1 hex away. *sigh* My take was he had about 1 regiment left. If he does escape I expect that unit to need at least 2 months to get back into shape.
The troops I used are the bulk of the Melbourne defense so I cant let them stray too far.
What NJP is attempting to do in Australia strategically escapes me...
He left Newcastle undefended and a Coy unit took it back. Now, maybe he doesnt want troops out in the open due to bombers, I dont know... However, Newcastle has 440 resources generated per turn and I was almost out of resources in Sydney. My piles there went from 9K to 66K with more left over at Newcastle. Thanks NJP!!!
He has a naval guard unit at Canberra that is getting pounded and it appears that a regiment is moving west away from that position.
My take is he has 600-1000 AV to the west, maybe 1500AV tops. There do not appear to be many troops in or around Sydney.
I think his plan is based on surprise and gaining a key city (either Melbourne or Sydney) on the quick somehow. It might be a good tactic against a newer opponent but I am not leaving either of these empty. in fact, Sydney has 1600 AV of troops and Melborne has 300+ AV with another 600+ AV that just mauled the 21st division right outside. I will likely move them back into the city as the advantage lies with me right now as troops are training up. For some reason the Australian army can train to 65 experience.
