let me quote from the manual regarding the PP.
"production points represent currency and raw material."
very bad definition! the currencies of the central power countries were strangled by inflation, and the raw materials were just less and less available by the time, no matter what they conquered. not that the entente countries would have had better conditions! in this war everybody sucked so hard.
the current PP system represents some kind of military resources and powers instead. still not a correct definition!

I've always considered PP a measure of the Military Complex for there is nothing else to apply it to. There is no Trade, per se, there is no infrastructure costs (besides transports and RRs added capacity) . I never questioned what PP was for, other than it's intended use, or having the lack of PP, which causes minus NM. As far as definition goes, likely a 10 minute fix. Is it going to affect the game "NO", so why bother? I don't believe the PDF manual or the printed manual we all have in hand is going to change one iota, heck I can't think of one game that has done a manual reprint just because of updates, definitions, ect..

"A Historical", what you say has merit! Last I knew this is an intermediate game that has been reworked intensively in a positive direction. Personally, I give the Dev's a lot of credit for sticking with it.[;)]

Changes to Entrenchment Level are applied automatically.

I know, it should.

I researched barbed wire, my units are sitting idle 4 turns, but the entrenchment lvl doesnt increase. I have also checked some screenshots from various AARs and guides and I cant find any new higher entrenchment levels (except Verdun-Strasburg area).

So, is is a bug or how long it take to increase entrenchment level? If I am not mistaken, the manaul says 1 turn?

Z.

We have looked into the Entrenchment issue, and after many hours play testing, believe the problem is now fixed! I'm hopeful that a hot fix will be released that will correct this reported issue.[;)]

Thanks for looking into this. I was really happy when the official patch came out only to be disappointed to learn that entrenchment leveling up was not working.

So the game is essentially unplayable (i.e., entrenchment is not working) until the hotfix is ready, right?

How was this not noticed during the all the beta testing?
When can we expect the hotfix to be ready?

Thanks,

C

Many thanks Bob!

I didn't think to look under tech support.

Is there a first hotfix since this is referred to as a second hotfix?

If you follow Kirk's install instructions, you will notice the hotfix includes both recent hotfixes.

anybody can tell me how the bombard skill works?
as per the advice message it should reduce the entrenchment value of the target. so i bombarded a fortress with a zep and two guns, no reduction. alright... then i tried a plain entrenchment with the same bombard power, same result. hmmm...
shock skill looks the same, but it seems working sometimes and other times not. this other time is very likely with units having shock skill of 1 only.
thx.

As far as I know: Bombardment never reduces entrenchment value, it will reduce efficiency value. The lower the efficiency value the easier to dislodge or damage defenders, it's just that much harder to do when a defender is an entrenched fortress hex for the entrenchment value is so much higher than an ordinary entrenched hex. Often it takes 2 or 3 turns to take a fortress, especially if your ground units are attacking across river hex sides. Defending generals and offensive generals have an influence on outcomes also. Using fighters (1 or more) have a greater effect on defenders than zeppelins, will have to look at unit stats to be absolutely sure.

i see, thx.
the bombard is the shock of the ranged attacks, so say. why is a different measure then? i still do not get it...
by the way, efficiency does not seem to be a big deal. many times i attack enemy infantry with zero efficiency and hardly cause some damage them. perhaps it is because of the privileged level, hm? of course it is a big deal of my units, because they are useless then...
little display bug report: i was to upgrade artillery with spec shell types. having hovered the cursor upon the unit the upgrade showed zero increase of bombard skill. yet it receives with the upgrade.
at last a question: why does the manpower of germany increase slightly? why the ahm and ottoman manpowers do not?

Yes, I always play on balanced, but from time to time run into situations where the other guy is in the red ("0" efficiency), however on a second attack on that "0" unit it takes losses. Often if that unit has no where to retreat to, it can be stubborn, not react the way you would think. regardless it will be in piss poor shape for some time. Yes, privileged could be part of the equation.
On the hovering over unit upgrade question: the highlighted unit will show you it's present classification (class II in this case) while in hover even after you have upgraded that unit, if you shut off or rather click off the upgrade function, that artillery unit should show it is now "class III", it's odd, but that's just the way the game works.
Germany's MP may go up with each convoy that reaches a home port, usually up 1 MP per convoy. I also feel that captured cities produce MP after awhile, but I don't have any facts to back that up. It's true when you lose cities, you lose MP.

thx again.
at least the upgrade got a good answer, yet i consider it as a display bug.
but the others... i think these issues should be thought again. convoys increase manpower, really, why, how? do they bring cannon fodders or what? gee, this really kills the balance...
and efficiency... meh.

In the manual it is felt these convoys are bringing home troops from far flung colonies.... Or, my thought, to bring "volunteers" to join the European conflict, thus an increase in MP.
