Support Ships & Medical Jeeps

Post by MasterDust »

I can't get either one of these to work properly for repair and replacements. Even when both have been stationary for an entire previous turn.
Another patch???[:(]

I don't think they work if the unit to be repaired was in combat that turn. Both repair unit and repaired unit have to be out of combat for at least one turn. I keep the repair unit still in a safe place and bring the wounded back to it to be repaired.

Why do you need a medical unit when a unit can self heal?

Yeah, I should have made that clearer. Yes, this is with units not immediately involved prior in combat. I can't get it to work. Apparently it works for you? True--infantry heal thyself. So, I don't exactly get the medical jeep concept either.
The Support Ship is another matter. That would be even more valuable to repair away from harbors. And, yes, this hasn't been working on units that were not previously involved in combat. So... [&:]

Does the medical jeep not use prestige or whatever they are called to heal? If so, that makes it useful. Otherwise, yeah, it's sort of dumb.

I haven't had trouble using the Medical Jeep to heal, just keep it and the other unit out of combat. They can't move the turn you heal either I believe. But then, I don't really use the Medical Jeep to heal. It moves fast on via road and also captures territory so it goes scouting. A lot. [:)]

As for support ships, I find them quite useful, particularly when ports are far away or non-existent like the Japanese at Midway at the start. I also have no trouble using them. Again, neither the support ship or ship to be repaired can have moved or have been attacked that turn.

I have an issue with support ships as well. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Neither unit has moved, sometimes for multiple turns just to see if it works and it never does. What am I missing?

And neither unit has been under attack or performed attacks?

Nope, just sitting there. Also, seems I have a similar issue with not being always able to set mines with my engineer units, despite having the points to do so. Odd stuff.
