Post by SIPRES »

Hello,

Does the ME map files will be compatible with JTCS WF?

2 days to wait

Berto would know for sure, but I think they will not, as there is so much new stuff under the hood, as it were!

Correct. We upped the number of elevations to 50. ([X(]) Introduced new terrain types. Drastically rearranged some of the terrain files. And made other changes to the ME map editor.

I would be surprised if you could successfully load and work with older maps in the series, from other games. Completely hit or miss.

That said, we will strive to ensure that any future WF 3.0 will be backward compatible with earlier WF maps. It's just not something we attended to, much less can guarantee, with ME.

Same goes with attempting to mod other wars and combatants within the confines of the ME editors and game engine. Don't even try.

Oops,
My intention was to use some ME map for some WF hypothetical scenario, like what if Rommel reach Port Said and Suez canal.
Big Maps design takes quite a long time in WF.
But I can understand after many code modification that compatibility disappear.

I will see anyway after ordering ME next WeekEnd.
