Unassigned Soviet divisions

On the 6 September turn of my current game the Germans captured Dnepropetrovsk. In the process the 51st Army HQ must have been destroyed. Part of the southern front report says:

"STAVKA is unclear what happened to the 51st Army HQ."

Before that battle there were 6 infantry divs and one cav div assigned to the HQ. After the battle one infantry div was destroyed in the city, one was reassigned to the 12th Army HQ, the cav div was reassigned to the 37th Army HQ, and the remaining 4 infantry divisions were unassigned. I just forwarded the game to the next turn and all 4 infantry divisions were still unassigned.

Is that WAD or a bug? 6Sept41 file attached.

Nope, working as intended.

If a Soviet HQ goes belly up then there is a probability of any orphaned divisions being automatically reassigned to nearby armies each turn.

It's a probability rather than an absolute as the Soviet Command Structure didn't have the flexibility and adaptability of the Germans in '41.

The 4 unassigned infantry Divisions in your game will be tested, each turn, to see if their Front Commander has managed to overcome the confusions and chaos, establish contact with the Divisions and make the necessary arrangements.

Don't hold your breath.
