The Polish soldiers were not too happy to see Soviet staff visiting their headquarters, but felt much better when
given their new weapons. They were also pleased to see their formations called the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Polish Armies.

Here is a map of territory in Eastern Europe.

The situation in the West Front is worsening. The heavy losses suffered by the Royal Air Force in the operations in Nothern France achieved unsustainable levels. Hugh Dowing told Churchill that he won´t be able to defend the British airspace against the Germans in a few months. Even the Spitifires are taking heavy losses in the hands of experienced German pilots, althought their BF-109C´s and D´s are inferior to the British fighter. To make things even worse, the British realized that the Germans created a strong heavy bomber fleet, that was used against British chemical industry with devastating effects. The Fighter command is considering to use second rate aircraft for night missions, while production of antiaircraft guns was increased. This months, losses inflicted to German forces near Brest were minimal, most of them caused by shore bombardment, the commitment of Battleships to support the French forces also resulted in a strong protest by British Admirals. In the Atlantic, losses to U-Boats are mounting, but at least two German submarines were found and sunk off the Canadian Coast.

1940 March Germans Italians

Brest Falls bravely surviving More than a year of War, the French not surrendering but fighting on to the last man and last bullet, the war continues in Spain.

The Soviets have advanced into Eastern Poland and Have surrounded Christenau in Romania not much can be done for these men, crossing the Carpathian mountains and are now crossing the Hungarian Plains. German Armies from the west are being deployed along the front. To meet the Soviets. The Soviet artillery deployed against Danzig was mostly destroyed, the Soviets seem confident that the German Army does not have teeth. The Wehrmacht is keen to show them that they are mistaken.

Well, if we had any question about the dental situation in the German armed forces they have certainly been answered. We were well aware of the qualities of the German forces, but still exposed our artillery in a rash frontal position. This was a mistake, and we paid too high a price.

Our brave allies need our aid and our whole country is rising to the challenge. This is a great Patriotic War. The world has long known how the Russian people rose to defend their homes, and this was in a time when nobility thought of the people as their serfs. Now the people rise to defend a country where the means of production are owned by the workers. The USSR is a country of vast resources, and we have seen made great progress since the People's Revolution. The Five Year Plans have build a great industrial base. Our tractor factories are now vast tank production facilities.

What are the Fascists thinking? What drives the German people to invade their neighbors. Poland was at peace, and was struck out of greed. The Poles and their Red Army allies know the power arrayed against them, but they also know that over time they will win this contest. The Germans have chosen a long path to defeat.

To our brave allies in France and Great Britain we are sorry for your losses in the mighty battle of Brest, but envious of the Glory you gained there. That battle will go down in the history of the great struggles. Your brave people are under air assault from the Luftwaffe, but their spirit is unbroken. Surely your cousins across the Atlantic will see their way to join once again in a Crusade in Europe. The Germans must not be allowed to bring their barbarity to peaceful lands.

France/Great Britain

The loss of Brest was a heavy blow to the Western alliance, due to the heavy losses suffered.
To make things even worse, Briatin is taking heavy damage from German night bombers. No enemy planes were shot down by flak and two locations were shut down. Hwoever, our first night fighters are already rolling out of the factories and a second generation of radar equipped night fighters will appear soon.
We noticed fewer air units in France, it seems they are being sent to the East Front.
Three German submarines were sunk in exchange for three British destroyers
In the North African Desert, British troops are advancing towards Tripoli.

I have to open my turn again. It's the first time ATG/ GD38 mod has locked on me. I was sending out a message. Then when I finally got out of it I saw that Win 10 was trying to update (which took a long long time).

The Soviets have temporarily suspended their westward advance, even pulling back in some area's. No doubt allowing rear elements the chance to catch up.

Regards German motives for the invasion of Poland, without resorting to much verbiage Danzig is a German city and it has been a shame that the German people have had to live with, but they will wipe that shame from our history books (If we have any books left we got quite carried away with burning them)

Not sure if the great patriotic war talk is really appropriate there is not a armed German within hundreds of miles of any Russians home, as to the serfs they may well be noble but don't get down wind of them their stench is anything but noble, as to the people owning the means of production we Germans are well aware that the communist party and its elite members with their luxury lifestyles who control the means of production a Oligarchy with just a different name and dress code.

The Germans might take a look at their own country, one or two problems there also.

Communism is important. Not really just a different name and dress code.

The Germans earlier commented that they had teeth, and the Red Army was not respecting their strength. The pause the Germans have noted is much more to do with their power than logistical issues for our troops. We expect the Germans to fight at least as well as they did in the Great War and there they soundly defeated early attempts at Russian offensives. We are hoping to learn from these losses years ago.

March-1940 France/GB

-No attacks against British cities this month. Damage done by former raids almost repaired
-A big concentration of U-Boats detected in the Canadian costs, many of the damaged, but no one sunk
-Italian troops advancing in Spain, taking moderate losses
-British troops, reinforced by Soviet Lend Lease tanks approaching Tripoli

April 1940

Reviewing the loss ratio versus Germany we see Soviet losses of 89R1 and 165R2, while the Germans have suffered 76R1 and 46R2. The Red Army needs to cause the Germans more pain in their attacks, and do more damage in Soviet counter attacks. German reinforcements are pouring into place, and in very impressive numbers. Many PzIIIj and tons of Bf-109E among them.

German night bombers are reducing the cities of western Poland. Just another factor for Stavka to worry about. We suspect these are the bombers that had been blitzing Great Britain.

Powerful units of German troops are now in place from the Baltic to the Black Sea. The long front will be a killing field.

GB/France April 1940

-In a desperate move, British troops, supported by RAF aircraft and surface ships were able to take Brest again. While it´s unlikely we will hold the city, this action will force the Germans to move troops from East Front.
-U-Boat activity is causing heavy supply losses, but the Germans lost 6 U-Boats this turn...
-Damage done by strategic bombers fully repareid, an attempt to attack Ruhr coal instalations resulted in light damage and the loss of half the attacking force
-The attempt to take Triopli suffered a setback with Italian raids against British armour, resulting in the loss of 80 tanks. To make things even worse, Tripoli now is home to German Bf-109E´s. Our Hurricanes suffered fairly high losses

April 29th German/Italian

Managed to move the mass of KV1's back from Poznan dark masses of Soviets loom behind this forward armor. No movement on other parts of the front.

The Italians counter attack the British and French Artillery brought up against Tripoli, also some advances in Spain.

29 Apr 1940 : Soviet Union

The Soviet armor were moved into their graves. Very few made it to Red Army lines. Poznan was a major defeat, and Stavka accepts the blame for it. We were experimenting with new defensive methods, and this was an expensive lesson.

The situation elsewhere is reasonably quiet, but things happen behind the scenes of course.

In the Far East Japan moved some Mech and Infantry to the border and we moved some reserves forward. We wanted to make sure the Japanese are aware that we intend to defend our territory. We have no intention of attacking them. Germany is quite enough, but we think a Japanese attack on us might come if they think we are weak, so we want to make sure they see we are not really pulling away from the Far East.

Modest gains in Poland failure at Warsaw follows success at Poznan. Casualties mount for the Soviets but not exactly a painless month for the Germans.

The British we presume build up in Brest as do the Germans to oppose them at least we know where the British are.

Some success against the British in the desert but the Soviet Lend lease to the British have provided them with formidable armored force.

27 May 1940

The Soviet Union lost over 300 rifle2 this month between the two phases. The people of the USSR are suffering, as are the people of Poland. Germany does not have the aid of her allies, but the Italians are firmly in the German sphere, and we expect Germany to bring Italy in when they are ready.

The Red Air Force seems to have established air superiority in the south. We know the Germans can bring more planes south when they wish to do so.

Krakow has fallen, and no Soviet troops are in western Poland up to Warsaw.

Japan saw the Russian forces just outside of real recce range but could not tell what was in the units. We responded by sending troops to guard our border with Russia. As what we saw there was more than enough units to launch an attack on us even if we could not tell what was in the units. We do not trust the Communists as lying is in their blood. IF the Russians continue to build up we will also...and that does not bode well for peace.

France-GB.

Italian troops in the outskirts of Madrid, but it seems they lack power to assault the city.
France: Brest is being rebuilt without any German inteference...very strange.
RAF attacks German airfields in occupied France. 70 Bf-109D destroyed.
Mediterranean: British troops completing the retreat to Benghazi. Italian destroyers ventured in the Med. Attacks by British aircraft and surface ships result in the loss of 6 of them, with minimal losses to the British. A small victory to avenge our humiliating defeat in Tripoli.
Atlantic: Two German U-Boats sunk

German attack on Warsaw failed the 30+ KV1's located at Warsaw proving to much for the Germans, especially after the loss of some 50 German ground attack aircraft with a sizable force fighters destroyed by a attack by the KV1's, so German survival hanging in the balance.

The Italians advance through Portugal. The Italians do not pursue the British towards Benghazi.

The British build up goes on in Brest. The Royal Air Force is testing the Luftwaffe in battles accross the Channel. Another 70 Bf-109D shot down for the loss of 20 British fighters.
The battle for Madrid starts. British and French aircraft are attacking Italian Forces near the Spanish capital. We wonder if the Italians will be able to assault the city without the help of their German friends....
Italian troops in the outskirts of Lisboon
A fierce battle is taking place in the Atlantic, as the Germans grouped their U-Boat force to attack British units. Two British battleships (one of them was actually French, operating under British flag), seven destroyers and 10 WWI submarines were lost, while the Germans had 8 of their submarines sunk. German patrol aircraft are flying from La Coruña against British submarines.
In North Africa, British forces are recovering in Benghazi, while reinforcements are on the way.
