colorBlind command line switch on startup

As per the WITP AE Read me file dated 20 July 2009, I right clicked on the desktop WITP AE shortcut icon. Under the shortcut tab I added -colorBlind to Target: "G:\WITP AE\autorun.exe". I got the message "The name G:\WITP AE\autorun.exe-colorBlind" specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file names are correct". Since I am colorblind it is very important for me to implement this command line switch. I would appreciate any help! I also am curious how the switch will help deal with my colorblindness - does it modify the screen colors in use?

try placing a space just before your dash in "-colorBlind"

G:\WITP AE\autorun.exe-colorBlind

First, you don't add it to the autorun (that's just the game menu), you want to add it to the actual game executable. Modify the "Quick Start" shortcut in your Start Menu folder for WITP AE. Also, make sure it's added at the end with a space between the .exe and the -.

I got it to work by using -colorblind after the italics in the shortcut but not sure what its doign game looks the same - coder help on thos one please Don/Michael/james/Bill/Joe any ideas ??

Note that I put -colorBlind preceeded by a space after the " at the end of ......Edition.exe . If this is correct, I assume that I could also tag on -altfont as follows: "G:\WITP AE\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -colorBlind -altfont ? I have 4 XP book primers/manuals and I have found no help on this. The generalities of adding the command line switches needs to be discussed since there are now several possible additions for AE.

Also, I am curious how the switch will help deal with my colorblindness - does it modify the screen colors in use? I can not see a change after I did "G:\WITP AE\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -colorBlind . However this may only be a result of colorblindness being different than the game's remediation..........?

I don't think the colorblind switch is working properly.

I followed all of the instructions above and I don't see any difference to the normal screens.

When the switch is working I think the Japanese map icons ( task forces) are not supposed to be red ?

That's correct, you can add on as many as you want after the "...Edition.exe" as long as you leave spaces between. So you could have "...Edition.exe" -colorBlind -altfont -wd

Thread resurrection alert.

I have just used this switch hoping it may help me with viewing some modified map panels from the RHS mod which contain several new labels blending heavily with the background colors. Unfortunately, I see no difference in the color scheme used after the switch has been activated. I have used the "Search" function to browse the forum for other threads about the colorblind switch, and all users had reported that the switch does nothing other than changing either text or icon color in some cases. Has anyone had positive experiences with this switch?
