AI scripting and reacting to alternative strategic developments

Post by Solaristics »

I modded the Case Blue scenario to start with SU surrendered and Axis forces from the SU redeployed to Northern France, for a second Battle of Britain, the Caucasus for the "liberation" of the middle east with Cairo as the final objective, and in Sicily to take Malta and reinforce North Africa. The Caucasus force faced little resistance as it cut its way through Persia, Iraq etc, but it did run into some British garrison units on the way, so the AI definitely knew they were there. Getting to the Suez took quite a few turns, so the AI also had time to react.

However, upon arriving there the AI was most deployed facing Rommel in the west, and didn't set up a defensive line in the east, in spite of plenty of warning. Cairo had an Egyptian militia defending it, but it was mostly HQs and air units scattered around. So does the AI scripting need to me modified somehow to account for this contingency, and if so, what is the best way to do it?

If I'm not mistaken you have to add a "Guard" script in the AI Scripts folder. That should do it.
