2.3.1 Cannot Save and Reopen File Between Countries During Use Oil

Well, the title says you "Cannot Save", really it should be "Shouldn't Save" as they would say in the cartoon Archer.

Here's the situation. This is from my game with Pat (AAR currently in progress). It's the use oil phase and the Soviet's are up first. I use two oil points from 4 points saved in Blagovyeshchensk to reorganize all the Soviet units.

I then hit the ok button, save the file and prepare to email it to Pat for the axis portion of the use oil phase.

I then wanted to reopen the file and take a lot of the game situation while waiting.

MWiF then goes through the motion of opening the file with both status sliders doing what they usually do when you open a game file. However, after a few seconds everything goes away. MWiF has crashed and I have to use task manager to kill the "zombie" process that it's spawned before I can "reopen" the game.

I've gone through these steps at least 1/2-dozen times and it's repeatable. I've also gone through the use oil phase for all countries, which takes me to the corps/armies breakdown phase, saved that file and was successfully able to reload it.

So the bug appears to be that if you save a game file and try to reopen it between countries in the use oil phase that MWiF will crash and will have to be killed through task manager (or rebooting of your machine) before you can run it again.

In post #3, you are describing exactly what happened to me last night when I tried to open the two saves from the USA Activities and Sub Selection game files you guys posted.

I wonder if it might have to do with the recent multiple monitor program changes interacting with SLY files.

If you can open those other two files from last night and change the SLY to the generic New game one, re-save and re-post them, I'll see if I can open them.
