Anyone artistic?
Who fancies creating a new website header for A Wargamers Needful Things?
I can only offer sincere thanks for it at the moment, but I wont forget it when I'm in a position to repay you:)
The current one with the Russian Naval soldiers was a very quick rush job and I'd like something abit more professional looking.
If you can help then message me:)

RE: Anyone artistic?
I could carve you what you need in stone, would not call it art in granite, marble, brownstone or whatever.

Of course you know it's winter here now..

What you already have is actually quite effective - just stretched on my screen! In the picture they are doing various things and using various objects as well as fighting so it's a matter of finding similar images from various timescales and nationalities, of maybe the three main services - air, sea and land and merge them together or make a collage. Would love to have a bash but really quite tied up at the moment! Good Luck --- and cool website!
RE: Anyone artistic?

Have a 2 ton white marble Moai head (like on Easter Is.) that I'll be resuming work on this spring.

Haven't figured out how to get pics from my smart phone to here yet, tried emailing them to myself, that did not seem to work. I can bang the heck out of rock, the hardest thing for me to do is use my own phone..[:D]

Here's about a 400 lb. birdbath nearing completion out of a purplish granite slab, just have to finish rounding out the bowl and polish.

Here's what I started with:

I ws impressed with your back yard. That's a lot of granite
RE: Anyone artistic?
Zap
That's about 25 ton in that pile, but if you look a little further out back you'll see a couple of other piles of similar weight and size, which is approximately about a fourth of what you can't see. [:)]

Here's what I call a doodle rock: Can you see the whale flukes?

The doodling on this side of that 600 to 800 lb. boulder was inspired by an English civilization from approximately 3000 years ago who did similar doodling (my term) from that period on local rock outcroppings. The archaeological term escapes me right now, it could be a petroglyphs or something like that. This is what I am talking about: http://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/

Granite everywhere! Its only right that your house should be made of granite not wood![;)]
RE: Anyone artistic?
Here's a project for you. That low wall along your drive way, make a level or two higher. Then carve figures, symbols, moments in history. biblical themes. You would then be called the "Michelangelo" of Boston.
I'd pay admission fee to come and see your finished work.

RE: Anyone artistic?
Those big blocks came from a pier in Boston Harbor called Rowes Wharf that got demo'd for the Boston Hotel 17th and 18th century stuff. Built another 100 foot stretch of wall with 2 and 3 ton blocks (out of site from pics) aprrox 3.5 feet wide by 4 feet high, not easy stuff to work with, many times have to shape rock to fit and chink. As far as carving goes I prefer to work on steel benches (3/4" steel top for the heavy stuff, 5/16th-3/8th for lighter) so as to get the right angles, carving on set rock is a PITA. That 2 ton Moai had to make a special platform out of squared timbers through bolted together with threaded rods to rest on. There's years and years of work here to do, it's not for everyone to take on.[;)]
