[font="Microsoft Sans Serif"]DEI: [/font] Big sweeps at Singers. Three groups of Oscar Ia, Ic, and A6M2 fly over to empty skies. Luckily I'd stood down all fighters to escort! [:)]
The P-38s were set to sweep a troop formation one hex out of Palembang and pick off about 4 Nates for no losses. Good day at the office.
The strike planes from Singers did some minor work. Vincents and Banshees both go for BBs while the Beasts for some reason strike out to several escaping xAKs, planting a fish in one and two in another. Wish they'd gone for Ise, which was in range off of Mersing. The Banshees get 1 x 1000lb penetrating on Furutaka and 2 x 1000lb onto Haruna, but they of course bounce.
Still, that helps, and serves notice that Singers has some teeth. I also love the fact that he now has to decide when to sweep, at what altitude, and when he can begin bombing. It's not going to be easy. If he chooses to go for bombardments the mines and guns could do some real damage.
The Raleigh is hit by Vals and nearly sunk. It'll most likely not make it now. The two DDs will try to still break free, but now that they're known, it'l be hard to find a free path.
One interesting thing is that escorts for two separate strikes come in as sweeps and are hit by flak! I haven't seen that before. Cool.
[font="Microsoft Sans Serif"]PACIFIC: [/font]Interesting thins up North. The Japanese have only a few combat ships up here and two CVs lurking somewhere, out of sight.
[font="Microsoft Sans Serif"]CHINA: [/font] The Japanese try again near Tsiaotso, and get nowhere. In x3 he will need a lot more to make a difference. I have two units poised to add to the hex if more does come though.
