Should I get a Steam Key?

Bought the Collector's Edition from Matrix. Use STEAM a lot. Matrix updates are as good as STEAM's so is there any other good reason to get a steam key?

No, there is not. I also have plenty of mods working fine with Steam version.

Suggest you also get this mod. There probably is a newer version, but here's a link to get you going. The only disadvantage is it is not compatible with the grog toolbar (I believe) and that is a must have for vanilla SoW. Still worth it, as it's better than any of the DLCs, imo.
