Naval transport

Post by Phoenix100 »

I'm trying to play Coral Sea (the newly PO amended version - thanks ThomasHarvey for that) and I can't find anywhere in the manual that explains how I ship troops across the sea. I may not have this possibility in Coral Sea, of course - I'm not sure. But it would be nice to try to get some troops from Aussie to Port Moresby. Where can I find a guide on identifying suitable boats, loading them with troops etc? Anyone know?

Having just started looking at a naval scenario, it would be great if one of those kind gentlemen up for doing beginner AAR type things could do one covering a naval scenario, I think. Because I have so many questions. How do I move aircraft to another airbase, for example? I click on an aircraft and the normal movement arrows do not appear.

Just embark them on ship and move them like you move any other unit. The actual ships, the transports, are abstracted by TOAW and the AK's and AP's, transports, are
used in other games. Having said that it's a good idea to have a ship in the hex with them when it moves ( move as a group ) for the AA protection they might lend
in case of enemy sea int missions are set. Use a DD or CL for escorts. Or a CA, it's your boats. BB's are magnets for airstrikes.

Thomas Harvey is busy putting a PO in his monster scenario and is unavailable for much else right now.
And you move aircraft by selecting the one you want to move and then use the mouse cursor to find a
suitable airfield somewhere else. When you find a suitable airfield just click it to move the aircraft
unit like a land unit.

There is no sea movement for Allied troops in this scenario. It is an attempt by the Japanese to invade Port Moresby by sea. The situation report indicates the sea movement for the allies as zero and the Japanese has 6000.

The troops in Australia are wallpaper mostly but they also prevent the Japanese from taking those bases to help take Port Moresby or disrupt Allied airfields.
