Scenarios
Hi, I have 2 questions about scenarios:
1- Could you please recommend some small size scenario suitable for a newbie in the TOAW series ? (any time period)
2- Each time I launch a scenario, I have a warning telling me that the scenario was initially built for the previous version of the game. Why is it important ? Where can I find the scenarios that were designed for TOAW4 ?
Thx

2) Ignore the warning, most if not all scenarios are updated or in the process of being updated... Remember, there are 600(!!!)+ scenarios available - see http://www.alternatewars.com/Games/TOAW/TOAW.htm

Yeah ! Arracourt is cool. Small size scenarios are perfect. Thanks. If there are any other small size scens you guys can recommend, I'm interested.

I just started recently too...
Try The Marne 1914 if you fancy some WW1 stuff.
12 turns or so....I am playing a quick MP game of it at the minute...interesting contrast with WW2

RE: Scenarios
Remember... you have to adjust them if you want to play'em properly. Keywords are AD, MRPB and other things.ORIGINAL: nukkxx

If you are a newcomer, for now I'd stick with the scenarios already in TOAWIV. It's plenty, and you don't have to deal with the above acronyms
The warning you see for some scenarios about having been made for earlier versions of the game is about the map specifically.
You see, TOAWIV has new map tile graphics, so while maps do display the exact terrain types as in old TOAWs, small details may differ, which sometimes ends up with a hex or two looking a bit weird. Like a forest hex meeting a plains hex with an unnatural edge. That kind of thing. It does not affect gameplay at all.

RE: Scenarios
Yeah, makes sense. Will play the above recommended scenarios and later explore the other scenarios coming with the game, that's already quite a lot.
I agree I don't need extras yet.
Thx

You're going to have to go into the editor and load the scenario and change theORIGINAL: nukkxx

values of the variables, AD, MRPB, supply range ( event ), etc.
I think AD is the Attrition Divider wherein you determine how bloody the combats are.ORIGINAL: nukkxx
What are AD, MRPB
MRPB is Max Rounds Per Battle and a sane value for that is about 3 rounds.

changing the event that determines that ( boost the value higher ) or perhaps write
a new event to do that function.

RE: Scenarios
Thanks Larry for explaining it... it's kinda late here and I am still waiting for a map making guru to proceed with Tutorial '50s
As for our friend in France - here's the stuff Bob, Steve, me and others shared about the AD back in the TOAW III days...

Do I understand this to mean that the scenarios that are packaged with TOAW IV have been checked and/or adjusted to TOAW IV so that it isn't necessary to make edits described above?.
Thanks

RE: Scenarios
Thanks Larry for these explanations ! I'm not ready yet to play with the editor but I surely will at some point in the future ...
Duke Nukem ? Sure I remember
A good 20 years ago !
One more question about scenarios (the ones that come with TOAW4): Can I consider they are balanced or is there a preferred side when playing against the AI ? What about when playing PBEM ? Or as often the answer is: "it depends" ?

Yes. If you find a scenario among them that gives you an error message (concerning a wrong eqp file) do let us know.
