Hi, Is there anyone know how to edit the ranks.txt ?
It will be more fun if two more higher ranks in soldiers are included, for example, master sergeant and technical sergeant.
Both the Technical Sgt and Master Sgt rank images are in the game. IIRC, the Master Sgt insignia has been occasionally used for the leader of Company Reserves unit, although this should probably be a First Sgt insignia with a diamond in the middle.
What we know today as the Sergeant First Class insignia was called Technical Sergeant in WW2. There are also Tech 5th Class and Tech 3rd Class rank badges in the \Close Combat - The Bloody First\Data\UI\Textures folder. The Tech 3rd Class is consistently mislabeled as Staff Sgt. Likely some tea-sipper at Slitherine is doing this on purpose as payback for our Declaration of Independence.
The Tech 1-5/Technical Sgt ranks in WW2 were mostly in HQ and support units. I believe the only place they were found in the rifle company were cooks and drivers in the company HQ (men not present on the CC battlefield.)
If there's a mistake in the rank images/data it's all on me.
Thanks for your reply. As you told me, I look up ranks in The Bloody First\Data\UI\Textures folder. I found 13 ranks from private (0) to major (12).
I successfully include various ranks into my game after modifying "Soldiers.txt".
In "Soldiers.txt", 2nd column indicate 0 (US) 1 (German), 5th column indicate staring rank, 6th column indicate maximum promotion rank.
I changed numbers 0 to 2 or 9 to 12, private became technician fifth grade and lieutenant first became major [:)]

Down towards the end of \Close Combat - The Bloody First\Data\Text\Text1.txt is a list of the full rank titles. Possibly if you shortened 'Technician Fifth Grade' to 'Technician 5th Grade' it might fit on one line on the Soldiers screen.
Technician Fifth Grade, T/5, Tec 5, Corporal or Tech Corporal were all used to identify this rank.
from Wiki"Technician fifth grade (abbreviated as T/5 or TEC 5) was a United States Army technician rank during World War II. Those who held this rank were addressed as corporal, though were often called a "tech corporal"
After battle, my platoon leader was promoted to lieutenant colonel [:D]
I found the leadership area of lieutenant colonel is whole area of map. see yellow circle marked in the image.

Hey, if a major can command a squad (The Dirty Dozen), a Lt. Colonel can command a platoon
Your image didnt link. That bit of forum code might not be enabled so Slitherine has more control of the images that are posted. Try using the 'post reply' button, check 'embed the picture', then upload it.
