John Tiller's Strategic War games

Post by Freyr Oakenshield »

Anybody played Tiller's Strategic War series (actually only two titles: The First Blitzkrieg and War on the Southern Front? Are they any good? I've played a few Panzer Campaigns games and like them a lot, but Strategic War is different scale and maybe also some rules are different... Anyway, wanted to know how they play and if they're worth buying. Any notable differences between the two series apart from their scale?

I have First Blitzkrieg. I'm hoping someday they'll finish the series but not counting on it. It is a fun strategic game.

It's a sound system. And I also had hoped it would grow. I actually worked with Glenn Saunders for a while working towards another title. But it became too time consuming for me so I let it go. I did develop a campaign game for Southern Front but it wasn't published (needed a bit of extra code).

I hope it gets done someday. The system has so much potential. Would be great to see a East Front title.

I played First Blitzkrieg a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.
