Stratagems, a lot of them

Post by achim123 »

Hello together,
i played this great great game for 20 hours at the beginner level and realy enjoy it.

The start was rough, but after some times i start to understand the mechanics and they are awesome.

At this moment i have toons of stratagems in my bag.
- 64 Nation
- 51 Zone
- 43 Leader
- 60 Unit
- 13 Mayor
- 17 Cov Ops
- 10 Tariff

That are a lot of Stratagems. My problem is, i cant play them or i dont wont play them.

Lets have a look at the Cov Ops Gems. I can send thounds of spys to my neighbours, but i already have 30 spys in every mayor. This cause political problems. I dont wanne send more spys. I think my spy-reports about their regime is much precise than their own regime reports [:D]
This "new spy" Gems are useless.

Same with Leader Gems, i have toons of retirement cards. I dont wanne retire so much leaders. Most of this cards are useless.

The Unit Gems could be usefull, but its a lot of clicking and micromanagement to play the cards. I have 20 (?) Priest Cards, this would be a click fest to assign them all.

This game is so well desigend and the mechanics well thought out, i think i made a mistake how i use stratagems.

What are your experience with stratagems? How do u use them?

Micro managing the priests is a mess, i agree.
It would already help if you could see detailed information about your selected target in the fatagem screen, there is enough space to show you all of this.

Right now you need to find the troops on the map, click them, check what troops are in them, go in the fatagem screen, select the priest, search through all of your troops and select the right one.
And if you want to add two different priests to the same troops, it does not remember your last target, so you need to find them again.

What brings me to the next issue, milita and independent forces are in the same "all" section

I finally found that you can apply a stratagem card to a unit easily !

Simply click on a unit of your choice on the map. On the area where you see its commander and his portray, click on "Strat" : this will enable to apply a Units stratagem card to the unit. Apply the stratagem, and you can immediately click again on the button "Strat" of the unit to choose & apply immediately another stratagem to the same unit !

I made a screenshot :
1. Choose one unit, anyone.
2. Click on the "Strat" button to choose a stratagem card to execute on it.
When you executed the stratagem card, you can click on "Strat" button again (of point 2) without closing the stratagem card window : it will permit to execute directly another stratagem on the same unit.

No problem, it's a pleasure to help :) I was really happy to finally discover that myself, after struggling so much when trying to add priests to all my units ! XD

Just to note with Splatsch's tip: It doesn't seem to link correctly for everything. Sometimes I'll use this trick for applying Stratagams to a city but when I click that button it links another city instead. So just keep an eye on the "Applied to" part and make sure it's correct. Hopefully these bugs get ironed out eventually.

You can also cycle through your troops with the OOB button at the top of your screen to see who has what quickly. From there I can easily attach priests or whatever to my troops.
