Air interdiction

Post by tonyscrase »

Is there any point in carrying out an air interdiction on a hex that is isolated. I'm using FB to interdict a hex that is isolated but they don't seem to have much affect. Only the normal losses that you would expect from a hex being isolated

you're still hitting any movement so it depends if there is any. As an eg, a single isolated hex = no. One that is part of a larger cut off area with a depot, then yes possibly both of supply and units.

if I'd managed a large encirclement (sort of thing that can happen in 1944), then I'd interdict as a bit of additional pain on the cut off units, if its a small couple of hexes then mostly your airpower is better doing something else

A caveat: if you need to finish off something nasty in the isolated hex(FJs in an urban environment for example), then having interdiction overhead when you attack will contribute to some substantial disruption even before GS goes in.
