Korsun Pocket: Crashing and hijacking your system -- in 2 easy steps

Post by gravyface »

Step 1: Install game. Listen to wonderful military music.

Step 2: Run game. You've now locked up your desktop...As an added bonus, you've also removed that pesky default font, "Arial"! That'll learn you, Arial!

Thankfully, this has been replaced with "menu1.ttf", Arial's retarded little brother -- he may seem normal, but alas, he's always in Italics, like this here, and everywhere else its used (MSN Messenger, MS Office, Web sites, you name it).

EB has a return policy, right?

EB does not have a return policy, so it looks like I better get this thing going.

As per some other guy's suggestion, I tried running korsun.exe from Explorer but it still didn't execute correctly: CD spins like mad, nothing happens. Have to open CD drive to 'end task' on korsun.exe.

Specs:

Windows 2000 SP3
AMD Athlon 2100
512 PC2700 DDR Ram
GeForce 4 MMX 64mb
DirectX 9.0b

Any other ideas?

Gravyface,
The first step to solving your problem is for you to send me a DXDiag file, which is a system diagnoses file so i can see what the problem might be. To do this, you need to go to start->Run->Dxdiag
Then click the save all information button, and send me the text file that is generated.

My email address is

alexshaw[at]bigpond(dot)net(dot)au replacing the dots and the at.

The font thing is a known bug, happens only upon uninstalling the game, will be fixed with the game. Download attached file and simply drop the TTF in the zip in your fonts directory.

I fixed the Arial thing already, thanks.

Do you think it could be a service pack 3 thing? I haven't updated to SP4 for Windows 2000 yet. I'll try tonight and see if thats what it is.
