Since Dodo89 is working on turn 4 now I will post my Turn 1 "Around Pskov Defense". I am not a believer of stacking up a whole bunch of units in Pskov and accompanying forts. Feel free to comment or ask questions if you like.
Most people have seen the message. They try to unload a unit in rail mode by clicking ON TRAIN on the unit and see the pop-up “100 Strategic MPs required to unload”. They look and see that the number they have is less than that.
So naturally, they conclude, "I guess I’ll have to wait until next turn to unload."
Not so fast.
At railyards, unloading costs for units vary. Here is the general guide for SMP costs to unload when the railyard has full capacity available:
Many people may already be aware of this and so the question is asked, how can this benefit the Soviets?
Well on Turn 1, what you are doing matters a great deal, just as it is important to the other side. In the area around Smolensk and Vitebsk, you are going to want to get a coherent defense set up immediately. The Axis cannot reach Vitebsk until Turn 2 at the earliest, so this is a good time for the Soviet player to rail units to places where they can aid in the defense of this area on Turn 2.
I don't think many may have seen you updated your pearl. Noting it here so others can see.
Yes, thanks for noting this. It made sense to update the same post so future readers can find them all in the same location for easier reference. #3 is up.
Quite a lot of players know that there is a direct correlation between supply and combat value, i.e. CV. Yet when there are opportunities to increase supply and boost CV, players don’t take advantage of it.
Why?
Because they expect the logistics phase to do all the work.
When units arrive from the reserve, many of them don’t have full supplies. Hence their CVs often are relatively low
How do we fix this?
Simple. Air re-supply. Call in some LI-2 transports to fly supplies to units that you carefully set to arrive on or near an airfield. Just make sure when the planes fly the units are on the airfield. Then watch the CV of these new arrivals triple in some instances.
The above is M60's #3 pearl of wisdom which he posts on page 1 post 9 of this AAR. Please check the post out there for all of M60's Pearls of wisdom. Great tidbits for people.
heres a secret one (well its actually in the player's notes) ...
if you are bringing a truck heavy formation from the reserve to the map (so a Pzr division or tank corps), deploy it at or next to a NSS - its far more likely to gain the trucks it needs there than if it appears on a remote sector
I have in the Far East 164. I also exceeded all the other requirements for garrison but was still hit negative event. Maybe the status calculation happened after the calculation for the requirement? Loki HELP! Or am I missing something???

We finally have a few battles in the North. The German Infantry arrived at the front too this turn so turn 5 the intensity here on battles will also be turned up.
On the first battle I really wanted to change Sobennikov out of 8th Army. Doesn't help his HQ is under TOE either on the rolls. I have a new full ToE HQ on the way but 8th Army HQ had to make do in the interim. Instead I made an Air Commander change for the Northwest Air Army.

2nd Battle results are to be expected here. Full out deliberate attack, my inf division had moved and fatigued after flipping some hexes, My HQ ToE is way under strength thus the Horrid combat roll. The infantry division is disintegrated. Nice attack!
