I would like to create a slightly ahistoric scen with a "special" Squadron.
I know how to do to createthat Squadron and the pilots.
But, i would like them to have Spitfire as planes. The prob is that there is no replacement for the Spit. Can I change that? And where?
And is there any way to modified the Upgrade path?

The replacement tree is hard-coded. There is no way to get a replacement for the Spitfire.

Spitfire replacements

Post by Reg »

The lack of Spitfire replacements is a real problem as it means you cannot commit any squadron with the type to any serious combat and expect it to continue to exist so the unit is effectively out of the game.

This is most unhistorical as in reality there was a steady stream of replacement aircraft from the UK. The actual agreement with Churchill was for delivery of sufficient Spitfires "to maintain 16 aircraft per squadron and allow a wastage rate of five per month".

Actual monthly deliveries for the period Aug'42 to Dec'43 are listed below:
6,1,43,14,6,4,23,24,6,5,26,27,2,18,16,8.
(In game terms, you must remember that training units and the other Spitfire squadrons operating out of the Darwin area also had a share of these replacements).

Unfortunately this is considered a minor issue by the game designers (there is only one Spitfire squadron) and is obviously a fair way down the priority list as they continue to improve the fundamental game model and I have noticed a reluctance to rashly add things that may affect game balance (and quite rightly so).

Hopefully if everyone raises this an issue we may get this minor change slipped in with the next update (I cannot see how one or two Spitfires a month will affect things).
Cheers,
Reg.

P.S. In addition to above, to be historically pedantic the aircraft delivered until Oct-Nov '43 were of the Spitfire MkVc type. Deliveries of the MkVIII commenced at this time.

Also the delivery figures include the aircraft required for the initial establishment of the new squadrons of which the first was not operational and deployed to Darwin until Jan '43. No. 79 Squadron did not arrive in theatre until Jun '43.

As stated above we cannot fix these anomalies with the editor so hopefully the designers will get around updating the code for us at some stage.
Cheers,
Reg.

OK. Thank you for the info.

I solved the problem with a tricky solution.
1/ I created a Spit Sqn. with 256 AC, only 24 of them ready to use. On the second day, i have 24 AC + 24 damages AC and the rest reversed to the pool (at 50% rate).
2/ I create fictional Squadrons, named Replacement Quarter one...and so on..

Thus i have a Spit Squadron operational.
And for game balance, i squeezed 1 VMF Squadron. :)

Very creative solution.

I completely misunderstood your question. I thought you wanted to change the type of aircraft that the spitfire upgraded to.
