Ships retreating towards enemy still

Post by havoc1371 »

A German MT was attacked 3 hexes off German North Sea ports by a DD coming from the NW. The MT retreated SW through the hex next to the DD towards England and not SE towards its own ports. No enemy ships in its way to do this. It was attacked again by a CL, also from the NW. Again it retreated SW through the hex adjacent to the enemy CL toward England and away from friendly ports.

This happens in every game I play at some point. This was brought up a while ago and was supposedly fixed.

Hi Havoc1371,

Hard for me to say without seeing the turn and the actual attack hexes and retreat hexes selected. Generally, as mentioned in the other thread, a unit will attempt to, Step 1) retreat to a hex with the least number of enemy units.

Then for Step 2) it will look for an equivalent hex to step 1), but with the highest supply value associated with that hex.

So if it is near a port providing supply to the hexes in the area, then in theory it could move closer to port provided it is a better supply hex after the Step 1) hex has been determined.
