Battle Damage.

Post by Bobthehatchit »

Should know the answer to this but I cant remember..

Have just had Yamato damaged in surface combat and she has lost one of her secondary batteries ( complete destroyed ) marked in red in the ship status screen. Lucky 8" hit from Chicargo.

I take it this damage will not be repair out side of Tokyo? :(

Got Chicargo back with a long lance! :D

Hi, Never send a ship with a system (weapon or radar) damaged back to Tokyo or Pearl harbor. There is a bug that makes such systems unable to ever repair.
You have to get them to a size 5 port and then wait for the port to repair the gun/torpedo tube/radar before sending the ship back for final complete repair.

And worse, it might take a long time for the port to do the repair. I've had ships with 40 system damage and 1 or 2 AA gun mount/s destroyed complety repair the system damage before fixing the gun. But if you send the ship back to PH it will return with system repaired but gunmount still destroyed and now gunmount will never repair. This mostly impacts AA guns. (Main Btry repair fine but a broken AA gun (when more then 2 exist in same location) are very hard to repair)

Thanks for the quick reply Mogami.

Was not aware of that. I am sure i have returned heavy damaged ships ( with 8" turrets missing i recall) and had them returned fully repaired?

So if i leave her in truk for a while the damaged gun turrent will be repaired?

She only has sys of 5, i was fairly loathed to send her back.

Hi, I don't play the Japanese enough to know if it applies to them or not. Ships are supposed to repair everything when returned to the main bases. But I know for a fact PH does not repair every damaged weapon on ships returned there and once a ship returns with a damaged weapon they never repair. Perhaps Tokyo does not suffer from this. Truk should fix the gun. (only ports size 5 or greater repair weapons/radars)

I generally play Allies as well, but i thought i would give the darkside a go for a while. :p I have never had any problems with getting half repair ships back.

Thanks for the info.

IJN weapon damage can also be repaired quite quickly at Shortlands and Rabaul. I had Yamato's secondaries repaired in under 10 turns at Shortlands.
