Finding the trucks for a 1942 Axis offensive

Post by Searry »

So I finally had a game which is nearing the 1942 winter.
The problem during the summer was never having enough trucks to actually mount the offensive.

Anyone who has played a succesful 1942, where did your trucks come from? Did you set all infantry to static and pray for no attack?

think you need to provide more info.

I've got a game in the same stage and decent mobility, jubjub has an AAR on much the same point and again he's not reporting this. Also didn't find it a problem in my vs AI axis game that went to Dec 44.

So I don't think its hard wired, so the questions are:

a) how effective have you been at managing the logistics side?
b) did you lose any units in the first winter?

Generally I'd look at how you played 1941 rather than 1942 for the answers?

It was a case of not refitting on map in NSS. If you do that you avoid truck issues.

In my game vs AI i had almost no problems with trucks for panzer divisions. When they were in reserve on refit mode that still had trucks. So they went onto map with ~2k trucks.

If you put your tanks on railroads to the NSS for refitting and then railroad them back to the front, won't your railroad be congested and you get less supply?

It would. Even 1 panzer divisons will make railroad orange. So i was just sending them to reserve and then deploy them in Berlin and to a front. So railroads are stressed only once.

P.S I know that this question was not directed to me :)

If you manage your supply very meticulously, supply problems only happen during the 1941 winter.

as german, you can find plenty of fancy trucks in the SOV mech and tanks division that you will surround and destroy during summer 41.

But most important is the way logistics is handled.
